I am currently employed as a Student Tutor at the Texas A&M University- San Antonio: Jaguar Tutoring & Writing Center. I have been employed as a campus writing tutor as of September 2016. As a tutor, I have assisted students with their writing skills across various disciplines. I have experience with helping students create lesson plans for education courses as well as writing lab reports for Psychology and Biology classes. I have also proofread dissertations and thesis statements for Graduate courses in Business and English. I have had numerous tutees from Criminology, Sociology, History, and Statistics courses. I am familiar with MLA, APA, ASA, and ACS formats. I frequently apply "the writing process" to tutoring sessions along with many other valuable resources and handouts in order to best accommodate the students' needs. The Jaguar Writing Center has provided all writing tutors with free handbooks, worksheets, strategy pages, and writing manuals to read through and utilize during tutoring sessions. Last summer, prior to being hired on campus, I created a handout for brainstorming and free-writing, which has helped students kick-start their ideas. Creating a "mind-map" and applying the steps of "the writing process" is an adequate method of presenting ideas in a well structured paper. |
