Hello Learners!!
I am so excited to have the opportunity to tutor learners of all ages. I believe that all students can learn when given the appropriate support and guidance. A teacher or tutor's primary goal should be to teach problem solving and critical thinking so the student can move on to independent work. I am certified in K-3, K-6, Family and Consumer Science, and Engineering and Technology. I have my ESOL and Reading endorsements. I am an experienced teacher and tutor. I am focused on the elementary subjects but will consider some middle school opportunities. I am also open to assisting high school students and adult learners prepare for exams (SAT, Teacher certifications, GRE). I will also consider group sessions up to 3 students to assist with homework and vitural schooling. I have a BA in Psychology/Sociology, MEd Early Childhood Special Education, and I hold a Doctorate in Education, Instructional Technology from Nova Southeastern University. I served 21 years in the US Army Reserves, retiring as a MAJOR in 2010. During that time, I managed and taught two online courses for over 200 Soldiers globally on an annual basis. I have lived in Florida for 3 years, coming from Ft Leonard Wood MO in 2017. I taught second and third grade at a local charter school. I am familiar with Florida State Standards, SAT 10, county portfolios, and the 3rd grade ELA/Math FSA. I was a co-teacher for 4th grade and was the lead teacher during virtual online learning due to COVID-19. I am currently a private tutor focusing on elementary subjects. I have two daughters. The oldest is attending the University of Kansas for Music Therapy. My youngest is attending USF St Petersburg for Information Management. I am an accomplished violinist and enjoying playing local ensembles. Living in Florida is amazing and I am at the beach, festival or park as much as possible.
