University of Wisconsin-Stout | Menomonie | Mathematics Education | Bachelor | 2020 |
The University of Wisconsin-Stout is known as Wisconsin's polytechnic university as it puts an extra emphasis on hands-on experience. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science with a concentration in Mathematics Education. While there, I took courses in Calculus (Calculus 1, 2, and 3), Linear Algebra, Statistics, Geometry, Abstract Algebra, Graph Theory, and Real Analysis. I also took education classes including Math Education Methods, Inclusions of Students with Special Needs, Multiculturalism, Classroom Management, Curriculum and Assessment, 2 semesters of pre-student teaching (1 semester in high school, one in middle school), and a semester of full-time student teaching (one quarter in high school, one quarter in middle school). I also tutored students for 2 years while at the university, working mostly with students in lower-level, remedial mathematics. It was a fantastic program, where I learned and grew a lot. |
