Hello! My name is Samiah, and I am a former medical student looking to change career paths and follow my passion for teaching. I would love to work with you! School was a strong-suit of mine growing up, and I was recruited while in high school to work as a peer tutor, mostly in math (all levels up to Calculus BC). I loved it so much that in college, I worked as a Health and Science instructor in inner city schools through a non-profit organization. I also created my own tutoring program with three other star students. Often times, I also helped with writing, editing essays, and reviewing resumes. My passion for teaching and tutoring didn't stop there though! In medical school, I also worked as a Summer Camp Counselor for a STEM focused camp, helping to develop the science curriculum and implementing it as a counselor. I also worked as a Meditation/Mindfulness course instructor for school age students. These experiences all gave me the qualifications to work as a tutor and a teacher for your needs! In general I think my added experience as a counselor and a medical professional has developed my patience and empathy, which I think are important qualities in an effective educator. |
