I believe I could teach most subjects up to the high school level. My ideal student would be self-motivated hungry types who are looking less for help with their textbook and more someone who will challenge by asking out of the box questions that really make you think. Learning to think is a premium when information is so easily available.
Taught 7th and 8th grade Science to a diverse group of students where numerous methods of teaching students were used to adapt to all learning styles and those struggling to help grasp difficult concepts; utilized “flipped classroom”; prepared “personalized and project-based learning” activities that motivated students to be engaged and challenged; collaboration with team teachers to provide innovative and engaging lessons; engaged students at a high level; knew students’ learning styles; brought Science lessons to life with real-world applications; used various forms of technology in teaching www.*** ;Taught grades 2 - 8 for 20 years at diverse elementary and middle schools where the population was approximately 82% free and reduced lunch; utilized “flipped classroom”; brought lessons to life with real-world applications; high level of critical thinking assignments; collaborated with team teachers to prepare lessons that use technology to build upon student strengths while working to overcome individual difficulties; used “personalized and project-based learning” to encourage and engage students.
I have been providing individualized and small group tutoring for 13 years. I am committed to providing learners with the help and support that they need to overcome academic challenges and maximize their potential. My goal is to inspire others and mentor them to become lifelong learners.
I begin services by evaluating the student to determine if concept gaps exists. If gaps do exist, students are assigned concepts to close the gap so grade level work become easier. This approach has enabled students to increase their understanding and mastery of course materials in school subjects, thus improving their grade in school.
I tutor in the following subject areas:
-Early childhood education (pk-5)
-Middle grades education
-Algebra
-Geometry
-History and other social sciences
-Writing and Editing
-SAT/ACT
-GED
-ESL

I am very passionate about English, writing and humanities. I'm the arts and entertainment editor for my school paper and do lots of writing outside of school. I am a straight a, AP student. I speak near-fluent Spanish, but as it is not my native language, I am more comfortable in English.
I'm currently a full-time online student finishing up my Associate's and going straight into a Bachelor's in Social Work. I work at a PreK-12 school shadowing a social worker.
Before that, I worked as a dorm hall tour guide and when I was in high school I worked at a summer camp and tutored kids in business classes during my senior year.
I'm really good at editing papers, and I started taking college classes in high school so I've covered just about every social science class there is!
