I started tutoring on my own approximately nine years ago and I decided to join the WyzAnt community in order to reach out to more students. I have tutored over 500 hours through Wyzant to date and I hold a 4,9/5,0 star rating. Feel free to read through feedback from my previous students to get a better idea of my tutoring qualifications.
My total SAT score was 2170 - M770 CR700 W700. My composite ACT score was 34 - M35 E34 R34 S31. My GRE score was Verbal 158 (78th percentile), Quantitative 167 (94th percentile), and Analytical Writing 5,5 (98th percentile). I specialize in SAT and ACT preparation for high school students. I am also interested in tutoring college students preparing for the GRE general test. For test preparation, I assign a decent amount of homework each week and I spend the majority of my sessions going over the questions my students answer incorrectly.
I would like all potential students to understand that the SAT and ACT are not exactly the same, and therefore require different types of preparation. If you have any questions about this, feel free to send me a message. I also put together my own review packets for the SAT and ACT, covering all the main concepts for the math sections and the grammatical concepts for the SAT writing section/ACT English section.
I am also focusing on helping high school and college students write and edit their college admission essays and scholarship essays (for undergraduate or graduate school). I offer face-to-face sessions with students to assist in all phases of the writing process - coming up with a catchy/meaningful idea, planning out the content and structure, and editing the drafts. The rate for these sessions will be my standard rate of $60 per hour.
However, I am also willing to offer assistance via email for students who wish to have their essays edited without meeting face-to-face. The rate for this type of session will vary depending on factors such as the length of the essay, how many rounds of editing are needed, and the overall amount of time that I spend editing the essay. I am willing to discuss a rate that is reasonable for both me and the student/parent.
As far as my cancellation policy goes, I require notice at least 24 hours in advance for a lesson cancellation. If I do not receive adequate notice, I will charge a $25 cancellation fee. This is primarily due to the fact that if I schedule someone for a particular day and time, I am filling that time slot and not allowing other students the chance to take that slot. Therefore, I am losing business by allowing students to cancel at the last minute. However, I offer all of my students 1 last minute cancellation free of charge; subsequent late cancellations will be subject to the $25 fee. The only major exception to this policy is a cancellation due to severe weather conditions, in which case I will not charge a cancellation fee if the lesson is cancelled at the last minute.
While all of my "professional" and "academic" qualities are certainly important, I think it's also necessary for you to understand more about me as a person. I consider myself a "nerd" and I am no longer self-conscious about it - it's who I am. I love school, but aside from that I enjoy reading and writing. To me, the smell of a bookstore is like that of a decadent chocolate cake to many others. Although throughout the school year I typically only engage in academic writing, in my down-time I write poetry and I finished writing my first young adult novel during NaNoWriMo 2016. I'm an athlete. When I was younger I did karate for about 6,5 years and got my black belt. Now, running is one of my passions. I ran my first half-marathon this past March with my Mom in RI. I don't consider myself fast, but the mental reprieve that I experience during a long run is something I could never give up. Finally, during the winter I take pleasure in crocheting. I make hats, blankets, stuffed animals, and anything else I can come up with. Yes, my interests are eclectic. Yes, I'm eccentric. I think that these parts of me make me a better tutor because I'm well-rounded and I'm always trying to come up with new ways to help my students. Also, I think it's important for my potential students and their parents to know more about me than simply my academic abilities.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I hope to hear from you soon!

If you, or your child, need homework help, I'm the one for the job. The children who I babysit come to me for homework help, especially with their math. I am a Management Accountant - USA and India. I am a Tax Preparer since 10 years in Clifton, NJ.
i am a professional mathematics teacher for high school and college since 1985, since i could tutor all Math courses like algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, linear algebra and diffeerntial equations.
My main objective is to find an easy way to make the student understand the problem. After making the problem understandable, it comes some "math tricks" to find the result. Once the student gets used to this process, my job is done. So let's make problems no problems any more!
I have a great amount of experience tutoring students of high school and college age as I have tutored my peers since Freshman year of highschool, and now in college. I am able to explain the material clearly and concisely while still being able to adapt to the learning needs of different styles of learners. I have taken Calculus at an AP highschool level as well as a college level and have succeeded in both courses. Teaching others one on one is something I am very passionate about and make it a point to strive for excellence. Every student who I have worked with has gotten back to me to express how pleased they are with their new and improved test scores and their overall heightened confidence with the subject. There is no doubt in my mind that the student I am working with will have an "ah-ha!" moment every time.

I have plenty of experience working with children, as I was a volunteer at the Pediatric Emergency Department in Mount Sinai for a year. Growing up in the public school system, I realized its greatest fault is an apathy towards learning. Instructors merely teach towards a test, students are judged only by their ability to score high on exams. While it is a tutor's main goal to bring those scores up, I hope to create a learning environment in which students genuinely enjoy the material and become actively curious about the subjects they are exposed to. Whether it's biology, chemistry, math, or writing, I aim to not only teach my students, but to engage them and lead them to an ongoing interst in their fields of study.
To contact me, please call or text at tel: *** , I will be able to reply much faster via the phone than I will through the website.

Hello! I have been teaching chemistry for 2 years. Throughout college, I tutored other students in chemistry classes. I worked as a TA for a general chemistry class. I enjoy teaching because it is awesome to see how my students grow over time. It is so rewarding to see a student work hard and succeed because of that hard work. I believe that every student can achieve their learning goals, some just need a little extra support to get there.
Linux and C++ for beginners, Algebra, Trigonometry, and Precalculus tutor in Brooklyn, NY.
Hi, my name is Abbey www.*** I have not been tutoring for long, but my strong point is math. I have been a straight A student since first grade, but math has always been my specialty. I have taken Pre-Algebra, Agebra 1, and Geometry, but I would like to help elementary school math or pre-algebra. I am in my school's National Honor Society. My average in math last year was a 106, and this year my final grade is a 103. I enjoy math, and helping younger kids understand what they're learning.
I'm a student at Columbia University double majoring in Creative Writing and Earth Science. I worked as a tutor throughout all four years of high school and I love to work one-on-one with students to build their confidence and skillset. I am currently tutoring online in the following subjects: math (middle school-high school levels), essay writing (middle school-college levels), and college consulting/essays. My hours are flexible, so I'm happy to work out a time that fits into you/your student's schedule. If you'd like to know more about my qualifications and past experience, please reach out. I look forward to talking to you!
Fun fact: in my free time, I enjoy writing novels and camping.
As a part of my undergraduate studies, I took many courses in mathematics and an assortment of applied fields (economics, physics, computer science, philosophy). My mathematics education included calculus (up to multivariate and differential equations), statistics, real & complex analysis and linear algebra. My interests mostly lie in the realm of mathematical logic because it dives deeper into proofs and the potential paradoxes that follow. My goal is to be a professor at a university that allows me to research pure mathematics. If there's a math topic that isn't represented in my profile, there's an equal chance that I know it enough to teach you, or that I would be willing to learn for you!
I also spent my years throughout high school and college studying, practicing, and performing music through my instrument, the flute. I've performed solo and with ensembles at many venues such as Merkin Concert Hall, Roulette Intermedium, National Sawdust, and the DiMenna Center for Classical Music. As a result of a concerto competition win, I played the Khachaturian Flute Concerto with the Stony Brook University Orchestra (full performance on YouTube). I also started a unofficial flute choir at SBU, arranging pieces for flutes of varying sizes. I have an equal appreciation for solo repertoire, chamber music, and orchestral excerpts; and if you're just starting out, I'd love to help out on your journey!
I currently work at NYU as a research assistant in a Neuroscience Lab. I've studied Math and Science from middle school, all the way up to my Masters in Cognitive Neuroscience. If you're looking for a tutor on weekends, please reach out and let me know a bit about yourself / your kid. Also, rates are negotiable :) Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello, I'm Priscilla. I'm a high school student who wishes to help students who may be struggling with the material they are learning. While I currently do not have any amount of hours formally tutoring, I have often spent time helping friends younger than me who had difficulty in their classes.
As a visual and kinesthetic learner, I try to implement methods that were helpful to me when I was learning the material. This can include drawing pictures, using colors to differentiate material, tricks to remember specific material, and going over specific questions with the student to ensure they understand how to approach the questions. As I come to know the student, I adjust how the material is taught so they can understand it best.
Throughout elementary and middle school, I consistently earned high quiz and test scores in my math classes. This, by extension, allowed me to achieve good grades. While I cannot provide the actual scores, they are in the high eighties and nineties. In Algebra 2, I was placed into the accelerated class (my school offers three levels, CP - the lowest - Accelerated - the middle level - and honors - the highest level) and ended with an eighty six in the class.
I have been playing flute for eight years in my school's concert band. In addition to this, I also joined my school marching band when I got into high school and took one year of music theory, as it was offered as a course in my school.
I wish to see the students succeed in their classes and will welcome any suggestions or resources provided. I am easily reachable and will respond quickly. If you have any questions or wish to schedule a lesson, feel free to contact me.
I Know a student should study to increase their value, and grow.
Perseverance and having a vision are two qualities that a person should have to be great at the things they do. And two characteristics I possess and value dearly. They've help me, and still do help me, to be very proficient and have a love for mathematics and computer literacy.
I have a flexible schedule and can tutor from grades k to 12 in a variety of subjects. My zoom meeting ID is tel: *** .
