I started tutoring on my own approximately nine years ago and I decided to join the WyzAnt community in order to reach out to more students. I have tutored over 500 hours through Wyzant to date and I hold a 4,9/5,0 star rating. Feel free to read through feedback from my previous students to get a better idea of my tutoring qualifications.
My total SAT score was 2170 - M770 CR700 W700. My composite ACT score was 34 - M35 E34 R34 S31. My GRE score was Verbal 158 (78th percentile), Quantitative 167 (94th percentile), and Analytical Writing 5,5 (98th percentile). I specialize in SAT and ACT preparation for high school students. I am also interested in tutoring college students preparing for the GRE general test. For test preparation, I assign a decent amount of homework each week and I spend the majority of my sessions going over the questions my students answer incorrectly.
I would like all potential students to understand that the SAT and ACT are not exactly the same, and therefore require different types of preparation. If you have any questions about this, feel free to send me a message. I also put together my own review packets for the SAT and ACT, covering all the main concepts for the math sections and the grammatical concepts for the SAT writing section/ACT English section.
I am also focusing on helping high school and college students write and edit their college admission essays and scholarship essays (for undergraduate or graduate school). I offer face-to-face sessions with students to assist in all phases of the writing process - coming up with a catchy/meaningful idea, planning out the content and structure, and editing the drafts. The rate for these sessions will be my standard rate of $60 per hour.
However, I am also willing to offer assistance via email for students who wish to have their essays edited without meeting face-to-face. The rate for this type of session will vary depending on factors such as the length of the essay, how many rounds of editing are needed, and the overall amount of time that I spend editing the essay. I am willing to discuss a rate that is reasonable for both me and the student/parent.
As far as my cancellation policy goes, I require notice at least 24 hours in advance for a lesson cancellation. If I do not receive adequate notice, I will charge a $25 cancellation fee. This is primarily due to the fact that if I schedule someone for a particular day and time, I am filling that time slot and not allowing other students the chance to take that slot. Therefore, I am losing business by allowing students to cancel at the last minute. However, I offer all of my students 1 last minute cancellation free of charge; subsequent late cancellations will be subject to the $25 fee. The only major exception to this policy is a cancellation due to severe weather conditions, in which case I will not charge a cancellation fee if the lesson is cancelled at the last minute.
While all of my "professional" and "academic" qualities are certainly important, I think it's also necessary for you to understand more about me as a person. I consider myself a "nerd" and I am no longer self-conscious about it - it's who I am. I love school, but aside from that I enjoy reading and writing. To me, the smell of a bookstore is like that of a decadent chocolate cake to many others. Although throughout the school year I typically only engage in academic writing, in my down-time I write poetry and I finished writing my first young adult novel during NaNoWriMo 2016. I'm an athlete. When I was younger I did karate for about 6,5 years and got my black belt. Now, running is one of my passions. I ran my first half-marathon this past March with my Mom in RI. I don't consider myself fast, but the mental reprieve that I experience during a long run is something I could never give up. Finally, during the winter I take pleasure in crocheting. I make hats, blankets, stuffed animals, and anything else I can come up with. Yes, my interests are eclectic. Yes, I'm eccentric. I think that these parts of me make me a better tutor because I'm well-rounded and I'm always trying to come up with new ways to help my students. Also, I think it's important for my potential students and their parents to know more about me than simply my academic abilities.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I hope to hear from you soon!

I wanted to clarify a few things. I have received two Associate's degrees from Raritan Valley Community College. One in Liberal Arts and the other in Food and Beverage Management. I have screenshots of my transcript from RVCC with most of the college courses that I have taken and the grades I have received. I have a cumulative GPA of 3. 41 and I was awarded a scholarship from the American Chemical Society to continue my education in Chemistry. Hello everyone I am here to help my friends in whatever ways possible to achieve that academic edge over others. I have been personally tutoring my friend since high school and even college I have been tutoring the Learning Centre. I would love to share my interest in the science field by sharing the knowledge that i have.
Hello, I'm Priscilla. I'm a high school student who wishes to help students who may be struggling with the material they are learning. While I currently do not have any amount of hours formally tutoring, I have often spent time helping friends younger than me who had difficulty in their classes.
As a visual and kinesthetic learner, I try to implement methods that were helpful to me when I was learning the material. This can include drawing pictures, using colors to differentiate material, tricks to remember specific material, and going over specific questions with the student to ensure they understand how to approach the questions. As I come to know the student, I adjust how the material is taught so they can understand it best.
Throughout elementary and middle school, I consistently earned high quiz and test scores in my math classes. This, by extension, allowed me to achieve good grades. While I cannot provide the actual scores, they are in the high eighties and nineties. In Algebra 2, I was placed into the accelerated class (my school offers three levels, CP - the lowest - Accelerated - the middle level - and honors - the highest level) and ended with an eighty six in the class.
I have been playing flute for eight years in my school's concert band. In addition to this, I also joined my school marching band when I got into high school and took one year of music theory, as it was offered as a course in my school.
I wish to see the students succeed in their classes and will welcome any suggestions or resources provided. I am easily reachable and will respond quickly. If you have any questions or wish to schedule a lesson, feel free to contact me.
I am a 14 year old boy and am attending high school. I am an all honors student and have received leadership awards from my school to show my responsibility. I am great with kids 8 to 12 years old. For tutoring, I would be interested in a job with students above age 12.

Growing up in the public school system, I realized its greatest fault is an apathy towards learning. Instructors merely teach towards a test, students are judged only by their ability to score high on exams. While it is a tutor's main goal to bring those scores up, I hope to create a learning environment in which students genuinely enjoy the material and become actively curious about the subjects they are exposed to. Whether it's biology, chemistry, math, or writing, I aim to not only teach my students, but to engage them and lead them to an ongoing interst in their fields of study.
To contact me, please call or text at tel: *** , I will be able to reply much faster via the phone than I will through the website.
Taking students of all ages and abilities. The weekday times of availability are tentative and flexible, please let me know what times work for you!
Hi, my name is Annie, & I am 15 years old. I can't wait to start tutoring. I love kids & can ensure you that I am informed in what I tutor. I can teach subjects from english, math (up to geometry), to science up to 9th grade, & also world/American history, marine biology, & Spanish 2. I am currently enrolled in MATES, an excellerated, magnet school. If you are interested in tutoring, or your child is in need of tutoring, especially during these times of virtual school, please contact me!
I have taken AP English, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and AP History and have experience tutoring all ages.
I can tutor high school math from pre-algebra all the way through calculus. I can also tutor in chemistry (honors and AP), biology (honors and AP), physics (honors, AP Physics I), and statistics (AP). I can also tutor in computer science (AP CSP, AP CSA, Java, Python, Swift).
I have a great amount of experience tutoring students of high school and college age as I have tutored my peers since Freshman year of highschool, and now in college. I am able to explain the material clearly and concisely while still being able to adapt to the learning needs of different styles of learners. I have taken Calculus at an AP highschool level as well as a college level and have succeeded in both courses. Teaching others one on one is something I am very passionate about and make it a point to strive for excellence. Every student who I have worked with has gotten back to me to express how pleased they are with their new and improved test scores and their overall heightened confidence with the subject. There is no doubt in my mind that the student I am working with will have an "ah-ha!" moment every time.
i am a professional mathematics teacher for high school and college since 1985, since i could tutor all Math courses like algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, linear algebra and diffeerntial equations.
As far as it comes to general education: I've been there, and I've done that. Having said that, I'd like to denote the absolute importance of true learning and actual knowledge of a subject - something that is difficult to ascertain in a classroom where you are simply going through the motions of socialisation.
So if you're looking to cut through the mundane and get a deeper understanding of some material, or if you're looking for someone to help you game the system to turn busy work into light work - then I'm your guy.
Also, don't be discouraged by the thought that I won't be able to translate the material well to someone that isn't accustomed to AP classes, rather, consider it like so: I can help provide that deeper "AP analysis and understanding" without all of the "rigor", or rather, all the busy work, cramming material, www.*** it as getting a taste of an AP experience through a much friendlier, understanding, and eloquent medium that has seen what works and what doesn't work in terms of teaching students, and can therefore pick and choose the good from the bad to help you make sense of the www.*** said that, here are some of my credentials:I've taken 11 APs throughout my high school career:-AP Economics (5/4)-AP Lang and Comp (5)-AP Calc BC (3)-AP Physics 1 (3)-AP US History (5)-AP Psych (4)-AP Lit and Comp (-)-AP Comp Sci A (-)-AP Statistics (-)-AP Physics C (-)-AP French Lang (-)I have a 97(dot)91/100 weighted GPA, which translates in practicality to a 4(dot) www.*** seems this website censors dots as websites, which is a bit odd.
Hello! My name is Austin, and I am a high school student and online tutor. I am a current junior at my high school and wish to help other students around my age (9-16) with troubling academics. It is my policy to teach using a Socratic questioning method that encourages learning through dialogue and conversation. I believe that this is the best way to keep your child engaged and it is the best way for me to assess your child's understanding. I have plenty of experience working with children, as I was a volunteer at the Pediatric Emergency Department in Mount Sinai for a year. There, I learned how to be patient with children and learned to put a smile on their faces.
