Hi! I am a positive and creative former teacher! I started teaching right out of college in 2015. I taught in Jacksonville, FL for two years and Newark, NJ for two years. During my time in Jacksonville, I taught middle school science (6th, 7th, and 8th grade!). When I moved back up north, I taught 9th grade biology and 9th grade physics as well as AP Biology. Although I have stepped out of the classroom, I still teach saturday school at a charter a charter school in the Bronx as a volunteer. At this school, I teach 5th grade math. Even though I spent my time as a formal teacher in science classrooms, I often pushed in to math classrooms as extra support, specifically in Algebra 1. Lastly, I taught in both General Ed classrooms as well as Special Ed classrooms, so I am comfortable with accomodations and modifications as outlined in IEP and 504 plans! I strongly believe in meeting the needs for every individual child so all can have the "ah-ha" moments that learning brings!

I would love to help children of any age to excel in Science ,English and Mathematics. I have scored 310 on GRE and 7. 5 on IELTS. I will try using different teaching techniques as required and help them understand and perform well.

I believe I could teach most subjects up to the high school level. My tutoring experience is pretty dense; I have been tutoring since I was a sophomore in high school (chemistry and English), and I have continued to tutor in both my undergraduate (biology, chemistry, writing) and graduate (nursing pathophysiology and pharmacology) settings. My tutoring style is very engaging; I absolutely love to teach, but I also like to quiz my students to make sure that they are understanding the material that I am presenting to them. My favorite method is the teach-back method where I ask students to pretend I have no knowledge of the material and teach me what they know. This helps me establish a basis of understanding and helps me to tailor a plan of action with students on an individual basis. I am also very open to questions and feedback, and I always let the student take the reins in terms of planning how the session will proceed.

I have always had a great passion for helping others and being in the classroom. In deciding on a profession, I chose to follow my passion of leading, teaching, and helping others.
