Hi everyone!
My name is Yana! I am college student slash tutor based out of Eastern Washington and I love to teach and help people learn and grow! I am going for a degree in social work, but currently studying psychology right now. It is my passion to help people, especially those still learning, to find a way to make education personal, fun and helpful! I teach many age ranges going from early Elementary all the way up to high school and freshmen in college. I try to respond to my tutor students as SOON as I see their messages but sometimes it doesn't always work out that way! So I am going to put my email here ***@*** in case I don't get back to you within 12 hours. I try my best to do so but you know how life is!
I have a flexible class schedule at the moment but I tend to have classes mid-morning to early afternoon (about 10 am to 12:30 pm) as of right now. Things change every quarter though so but I am very flexible and I can even work on weekends! I hope to hear from you all soon and we can make something work!

I am a certified teacher of English and French languages with 10 years of experience. During my university years I had practical experience of living in the United Kingdom in 2004 and 2006. I have been teaching students from all over the world. During many years of teaching I made up lot of seminars, practical lessons, interactive exercises, power point presentations with different tasks in order to help students start speaking fluently and promptly understand English and French speaking people. I have got my Master's degree in Applied Linguistics in 2007 and started my teaching career in the same year. Since then teaching became not just my job but my passion. I am fond of learning and applying new techniques and approaches in teaching foreign languages to students of all ages and different levels. I prepare students for taking exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, FCE, DELF, DALF. I have successfully passed IELTS exam recently and I can teach my students specific techniques which can help them score the highest band. My primary goal is to make my tutorials interesting and effective in order to develop practical skills in speaking and understanding foreign languages that will last a lifetime.

Online tutoring isn't a second job for me—it's what I do! I invest 100% in my teaching, allowing me to cater the experience to each student's unique needs.
I have more than 15 thousand hours of experience teaching English, Hindi, and Urdu. Because every student is different and requires a unique approach, I continually adapt to the learner's needs regarding how the material is presented and the type and frequency of practice work.
In addition to general language teaching, I specialize in test preparation classes for the TOEFL, IELTS, and OPIc English proficiency tests. I also work with Hindi and Urdu students preparing for foreign service exams in the US or abroad.
I earned my TESOL certification from Seattle University in 2008 and completed several master's level courses in teaching and language learning. My Hindi and Urdu studies began in 2006 at the University of Washington. Four intensive quarters of study there were followed by the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) Advanced Hindi Language Program in Jaipur, India, where I did two intensive, advanced-level programs back-to-back. In 2008, AIIS hired me as the first-ever non-native speaker to teach in their Basic Hindi Program.
In 2009, I cofounded a language school in New Delhi (India), which has become a world-class place for language learning. There, I gained more than 10 thousand hours of in-class language instruction experience, working with students of all ages and backgrounds from dozens of countries. After living and teaching in India for eight years, I returned to Seattle with my family.
One thing that sets me apart as an English language teacher is that I have become fluent in second languages and know what it's like to live in an entirely different culture.
I am generally available for online classes between 6 - 10 am and 4:30 - 10 pm (PST).
If you have any questions about my experience or approach to teaching, feel free to get in touch anytime!

With my educational background in English, I provide tutoring in addition to paper-editing. My clients will receive thorough feedback, homework and study tips, and any needed understanding of grammar, literature, or other English work aspects. I work well with students of all ages and have prior experience mentoring youth both of pre-school and college age. While I work well with any demographic, I have also worked with at-risk youth and can continue to cater to any such needs. I understand that different clients require different needs and am more than willing to design a fitting curriculum with each person. I am well-versed in multiple forms of media and can create a fun environment to learn within.

Hi, I’m Colleen!
I recently graduated cum laude from Princeton with a BA in Sociology. I'm open to traditional tutoring for grades 3-12 as well as providing oversight while your kids partake in virtual schooling. I'm patient and willing to try a variety of different approaches, as I understand that we don't all learn the same way!
Details:
-One-on-one or groups up to 3. I can work directly your child, or can instead provide oversight and guidance as they navigate distanced learning.
-I believe communication is important! I’ll provide informal written progress reports to parents every few weeks so that we’re on the same page.
-Open to virtual tutoring on the platform of your choice. If you’re in or near Capitol Hill, Seattle and think in-person tutoring would be best, let’s talk-- maybe we can come up with a safe arrangement!
-My schedule is flexible!
About me:
When I was in third grade, I delighted in creating homework packets for my younger sister and parents. Now, I am a recent Princeton grad with a major in Sociology and a minor in Spanish Language & Culture. I have experience tutoring one-on-one lower-level math (fifth and ninth grade), and always loved watching a concept finally click when we drew a visual representation of the problem together. I have also volunteered as a homework helper for an after-school program in which I worked across a variety of subjects, mostly with first and fifth graders, and have mentored a local eighth grader through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Related experience involves living with a three-year old (who honestly tutored ME in Spanish) when I studied abroad two years ago, and facilitating entry into college life for first-year Princeton students through guided conversations and community service as an orientation leader.
