My name in Ann. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a BS in Biophysics and BA in Neuroscience giving me a very strong background in science and math. I plan on pursuing my graduate studies in the near future. I also graduated as a valedictorian in high school. I guess you can say I've always been an overachiever growing up in a family that puts a lot of importance on academics. I can speak 4 languages: English, Ilocano, Tagalog and French. I am also currently learning Spanish.
Teaching has always been one of my passions. Nothing beats the feeling you get when you know you have successfully shared your knowledge someone. In college, I used to volunteer to tutor underprivileged children at the local elementary school and therefore I know how challenging it could be to tutor little children but I definitely developed the patience and learned how to keep them focused. For me, helping my classmates and friends solve problems in math and physics and understand concepts in subjects such as chemistry, biology, genetics and neurophysiology was the best form of studying. I take teaching very seriously as academic excellence has always been a priority of mine.
I'd be happy to travel to wherever is comfortable and convenient for my tutee. You can schedule a lesson at any of the following days/times:Sunday-Tuesday: 9am-8pm
If you do schedule, please keep in mind that I have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
I definitely hope to have a chance to work with anyone. Thank you.
Ann
I love teaching people Spanish more than anything. I discovered my passion for the Spanish language while studying Spanish at American River College. I have completed my third semester of Spanish there and plan on continuing to study Spanish at Sac State in the fall. I have tutored students in beginning through intermediate Spanish at American River College. I have also volunteered at a Spanish Immersion preschool in Sacramento so I have experience teaching young children as well.

From the moment students begin their first hour all the way through the completion of their program, we strive to instill The 3 C’s within our students:
The adaptability to Change (and then change again)
The desire and capability for Critical Thinking
To use their Creativity as a means of expression and analysis
These 3 C’s act as the core of our education programs and specialty classes, all designed to encourage and support the growth of the whole child throughout the processes of self-development. Students become excited about learning because our programs are rich in academic skills, scientific discovery, visual arts, world culture, and language. We employ the teaching philosophy of achievement and success developed over decades of research by world-renowned Stanford/Harvard University psychologist, Carol Dweck PhD.

Hi! I am a current sophomore at one of the top 10 universities in the country studying Sociology on track to graduate Summa Cum Laude. Before this, I graduated high school at the young age of 15 where I also led National Honor Society, won a multitude of academic awards, and graduated with 9 Advanced Placement courses and a 4. 1 GPA under my belt. Having been accepted to some of the top universities in the country, I can say confidently that I am well suited to tutor you or your student. I have over 5 years of experience speaking Spanish and have been teaching it to students aged 6-15 for the last year. As far as Mathematics go, I passed the AP Calculus exam with flying colors, and am currently taking a college-level mathematics course. I may not have experience teaching Calculus but am very capable of doing so with my extensive history volunteer tutoring in geometry and elementary algebra that I will be able to translate to a more advanced math subject.
Being a tutor and a supplemental instruction leader for the past three years (at Student Center for Academic Achievement) and going to monthly training meetings, I have learned to quickly get the tutee comfortable and gauge their needs to tailor a specific way of tutoring. I believe in challenging yourself and understanding the core basic concepts. I take this same friendly yet motivated attitude to my tutoring sessions to help students achieve their goals academically. Through experience, training, and being a student myself, I have a good grasp at study schedule management and know the importance of different learning tools. Tutoring is a passion of mine and I plan each session ahead of time to cater the student's needs such that the student can get the most out of each session. I'm a fun-loving and confident person who believes that learning should be fun and so I try to make each session interesting. What I love most about tutoring is that both the tutor and the tutee learn during each session and help each other grow. I love to help students achieve their goals and the spark they have once they grasp a concept.
I have had an interest in science since I was 8 years old. I always read on recent research papers since high school. What makes me a good science tutor is the experience as both: a tutor and a student. As a student I know how to study for science topics and how to knit all the things we learn in this subject together. During my undergraduate, I was able to get an A on every science class and graduate as a Summa Cum Laude along with got great reviews from my tutees. I believe that each person has a different perspective and I tailor my tutoring technique to that perspective as well as add a newer one.
