I am currently an English As A Second Language teacher in an elementary school in the suburbs. I work with students from Kindergarten to 5th grade who speak another language, whose first language was not English, or whose family speak another language at home. I am certified to teach general education for kindergarten - 9th grade, mathematics, science, and I am also a Certified Reading Specialist. Therefore, I am certified to provide reading intervention for students who may be struggling readers. I am looking to tutor kids Preschool - 5th grade in reading and writing and/or preschool - 2nd grade in math. For students who need multiple sessions a week, I provide discounted pricing.
For students who would like 60 min tutoring sessions, the cost would be $65 an hour.

English was my second language but i know more of it then arbic. I love reading and enjoy teaching it. I enjoy teaching english (spelling, speaking, & writing) and just helping teenagers & kids in general.
I used to help teach english in after school programs and with my relatives that had just came into www.*** ;
English is an easy subject to me and ive always gotten (A+) through out the year. I have won a few spelling bees and used to be in journalism and take advanced classes.
I enjoy seeing kids understand what they are reading and learning and going to school because they want to not because they are obligated to. I like the satisfaction of knowing a kid is fully understanding what they are learning.

My goal as a tutor is not only to assist students who struggle in school, but to help them develop a passion for learning. I am an avid reader and writer and want to help kids become avid readers and writers as well. I will plan my lessons with enjoyable and educational activites pertaining to the student's educational level and interests. I will also plan these lessons for summer to keep student's brains fresh and ready for school in the fall.

Hi!
I have experience tutoring high school students and traning creative professionals, as well as raising my own daughter to love reading, music, art, and being endlessly curious. My specialties include English language and literature, history, art history, and social sciences. I took AP English, History, Physics, Chemistry, and Calculus in high school all while playing two sports. In college I received academic, music, and art scholarships and graduated with Honor. I have tremendous empathy for learners of all ages and greatly value the guidance I received as a student. I welcome every opportunity to pay it forward and help students as a tutor.
My career as an artist and web designer has given me a love of humanities and culture. Soon after completing my bachelor's degree in graphic design, I started a "penny university" - an independent coffee shop - that hosted poetry readings, live music, art shows, and a high school philosophy club. For over a decade, I have independently studied and written about art history, ancient and European history, and languages including English, Spanish, Italian, and Latin. I have travelled several times to Europe, including London, Oxford, Rome, and Florence, and I have lived, worked, and studied in Chicago, Portland, and New York.

My favorite thing to do in life is learning new things and relaying the things I've learned to other people. I've grown up tutoring my 3 younger siblings and 3 nieces (all in different grades) so I have experience in all kinds of subjects and learning levels. I'm a very comfortable person to talk to and understand. Whether it's helping out with the quadratic formula or teaching a young child how to read Dr. Suess, I'll figure out a way to help them comprehend the task at hand. I look forward to helping out!
