I graduated from Princeton Unversity, with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering in Spring 2018. I am currently applying to medical schools, but have always had a passion for teaching - whereas I began tutoring other students - both younger and the same age as I - as a freshman in high school. I continued during my summer breaks from college, even though I had various internships and research jobs. I am working full-time (40 hours a week) as a clinical research assistant at CHOP, but would love to continue to teach on the side! I love working with everyone from children to young adults. I am willing to work out location, hours, and what services I am willing to provide, depending on the student -- this includes via skype for interested students that are not in the Philadelphia area. Please contact me for interest and pricing and I am sure we can work something out!

I got a lot of experience tutoring in high school as a part of the National honors society as well as helping out and observing speech pathologists such as my mom and her colleagues. I love helping students with school work and understand that some subject can be harder to grasp than other. Being a business major I understand that perseverance is key to success and will work hard to help make things as clear and understandable as possible.

I would like to make more impact in the lives of students who just need some extra time to learn concepts and principles of math and science.
Is your son or daughter having trouble studying their maths and sciences? Or needs bring up a grade to maintain their extra-cirriculars? I use methods that focus on learning the fundamentals of a subject and instilling practice that helps give the confidence to approach problems and achieve goals.
Important: I work in my day job typically from 9am-6pm, so please reach out to me with a name, preferred time to contact, and what level of study your son/daughter is working and I will reach out to discuss session period dates and times.
Sessions times are negotiable, online sessions are via Zoom and I offer the first session up to one hour for free!

Hey there! My name is Alyssa B. and I am a local Philadelphia-based actress, singer and teaching artist with training from The University of the Arts in Musical Theater and Acting. I have experience teaching and directing students ages 5 to 20 years old. While at The University of the Arts I was the primary tutor for Musical Theater studio and Acting studio classes for undergraduate students. I have also had experience directing productions featuring students all the way from kindergarden through to high school, while having also taught at multiple theatrical summer camps. As a youth director and teaching artist, I hope to help each individual student find their own unique artistic voice, not focusing on one teaching method, but instead allowing each student to inspire a unique approach suited for their own specific needs and desires. I have experience tutoring and coaching students in anything from Shakespeare to Musical Theatre to college audition prep.
As I believe every student requires a specific approach, I am happy to offer first time students the option of a free private session to start - allowing each student to see if I am the right fit for them before continuing on in their private training! I also am happy to make theatre education accessible by offering several different methods to "meet up" for a coaching - I can teach via online skype/facetime, in person at my studio in Philadelphia or by traveling to the student (depending on their distance from my home base). I will try to work with you and see what is possible!
Should you have any questions feel free to reach out via email or phone call, although email is typically a better method. All questions are welcome and encouraged! I can't wait to meet you or your child and see what cool theater we can create together!!
Best,
Alyssa B.
