I got a lot of experience tutoring in high school as a part of the National honors society as well as helping out and observing speech pathologists such as my mom and her colleagues. I love helping students with school work and understand that some subject can be harder to grasp than other. Being a business major I understand that perseverance is key to success and will work hard to help make things as clear and understandable as possible.

My name is Rachel and I have eight years of experience teaching elementary/middle school. I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential through individualized instruction!
I started out teaching 2nd grade and have been teaching 5th grade for 19 years. In my 19 years, I have worked with a variety of students, curriculum, strategies, and philosophies. I have also worked one-on-one and with small groups, from Kindergarten to high school. Over the years I have tutored many students in my district, as well as other districts in the area.
I have worked with a diverse group of students over the years. I have a variety of different strategies to help students not only learn the concepts, but remember how, and when to use the strategies. In my years of teaching, I have learned many new strategies from my www.*** ;
I am always looking to find new ways to help students be successful!
I am looking to be an in-home or online tutor during the academic school year to help families adjust to online www.*** ;I worked with all ages and subjects at a private school in center city as a substitute and after-school program teacher for the past two years. My biggest experience is working with children in Pre-K through 5th grade, and my favorite subjects to teach are math, English, and reading. I also have experience working with 5th and 6th graders in math, history, and English.
I am a retired, PA certified sixth grade teacher of 35 years. Although I am retired, I enjoy continuing my work and connection with young people. My retirement experiences have included the nannying of school age children and the tutoring of a variety of school age children from first to eighth grade in all manner of school subjects. I emphasize the importance of learning and the use of good study skills. I will work with the school systems if necessary and strenghten relationships between the child and the school. In addition to my academic tutoring, I also teach children and adults how to sew.
My teaching style incorporates my love of art and music to create a creative and productive learning atmosphere. I work to forge genuine connections with students built on a foundation of genuine care and professional competence. Over my four years as a part-time music educator, I developed strong classroom management and curriculum development skills. In finishing my teaching certification last spring in a rather unconventional atmosphere, I have added flexibility in my practice and fluency in online learning tools to my list of qualifications. To learn more about my experience, skills, and teaching philosophy, please review my linked website.
I have always had a great passion for helping others and being in the classroom. In deciding on a profession, I chose to follow my passion of leading, teaching, and helping others. While my primary focus for my degree is Secondary Education with a specialization in history, I have extensive experience tutoring children from preschool through high school. Likewise, I babysit and nanny children from infancy through middle school. During my time in high school, I was a member of the National Honor Society and the Italian Honor Society. I was also an ambassador for the National Society of High School Scholars. I was also a member of the Peer Mentor organization and a club called PUSH/REBEL. These organizations focused on teaching the youth of the community the dangers of getting involved with or using illegal substances and helped immerse students in positive leadership and educational activities. As a college student, I work for a tutoring company and tutor English Language Arts, History, Chemistry, and Algebra. I also work for a nanny company. It is my hope that I can connect with more students and have the opportunity to work with more children through TutorExtra.
