I am a current student at Northeastern University studying Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in cell and tissue engineering. My academic areas of strength are algebra, calculus, physics, chemistry and fluid mechanics. I am looking to tutor students that are at a high school level, however, I can be flexible to meet other needs as well.
I have gone through my own fair share of tutors good and bad, and I completely understand how frustrating it can be to find the right tutor for you. I aim to be fair and do my best to meet your needs.

Hello! I am a recent college graduate who spent two years tutoring at the campus educational resource center. I majored in biology and have experience tutoring science and math courses of various levels. Many students are hesitant to discuss their lack of understanding with peers or professors, especially when they are unable to articulate their point of confusion. That's where I come in! I'm here to help in whatever way I can whether that means going in depth into one concept or simply building the confidence to tackle difficult problems. I don't have one specific teaching style because I want to be able to guide students toward a better understanding of the material in the way that works best for them. Together let's work toward that lightbulb moment!

Tutoring Approach/Experience

(Demonstrated score improvement, passing courses, raising grades, etc.)2. Knack for establishing good rapport with each www.*** Focus on understanding concepts and developing skills and strategies to solve www.*** Also, my ability to make things understandable, in writing and in www.*** :30+ years college teaching, plus private tutoring in academic subjects and "test-prep" techniques. Also taught and/or managed many employee-training programs. Developed curricula for training programs, civil-service exam preparation courses, etc. as well as for after-school science clubs and summer www.*** professional career was primarily in software development and management, at Brookhaven National Lab (BNL), Grumman, Robotic Vision, American Science, and other Long Island companies, and as a software consultant and website www.*** am also a professional writer, with thousands of pages published, and I currently host two weekly radio shows on a local radio station. Hello, my name is Serkan www.*** I have graduated from a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in San Jose State University and later obtained my master’s degree in physical chemistry in San Francisco State University. As part of a chemistry program, I have also taken a sufficient amount of advanced math and physics courses (up to 2 years).
Prior to my graduate program, I worked as a tutor for 1–2 years obtaining nearly 100 hours of one-on-one tutoring with high school and college students on subjects including chemistry, physics, and advanced math subjects. Much of my tutoring experience has been through Wyzant and other tutoring agencies. I really enjoyed the experience and have improved the grades and performances of many of my students.
During my graduate program, I worked as a teaching assistant (TA) for 2–3 years, in which my supervisor was the dean of the department. This job involved me teaching laboratory sections for general chemistry courses with up to 30 students in some classes. I helped prepare my students for midterms, finals, and supervised them through the conceptual and hands-on experiences of experimental chemistry on a bi-weekly basis.
I generally tutor in a way to get my students to really enjoy the subject they are learning and try to get them to think creatively towards solving problems. I realize that of one of the greatest hurdles students have in learning physical sciences (e. g. chemistry and physics) and math subjects is the lack of visual teaching to help them connect complex concepts in their minds. In order to overcome this, I generally take a more visual approach to get students to be able to “see” the concepts in their minds. That way, students obtain a deeper understanding of the material, which not only helps them to pass the class, but also gives them insight of the subject that will help them in future coursework.
I offer tutoring in chemistry (just about all kinds except biochemistry), college physics, and math courses (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and statistics). I really encourage students who are interested in improving their grades in these subjects to contact me. If you are patient and willing to do the work, I promise I can help you boost your grades and improve your performances in your classes. My first meeting is always a FREE consultation session. If you feel that I am not the person for you, there’s no charge on your part. I hope we can work together to improve your coursework and help you pass those classes.
Hope to see you soon!

Tyler L. is the founder and principal instructor of Examine It Tutoring Services, which works in and around the various boroughs of New York. Examine It works with a wide range of students, all with unique educational backgrounds. We focus on developing a student’s problem solving ability rather than content memorization.
Tyler is a former environmental engineer at Air Pollution Characterization & Control. APCC is based out of Hermon, ME and focuses on air pollution compliance testing for industrial facilities. While there, he learned importance of applying abstract engineering concepts to real life and often irregular situations. He also learned the value of problem solving in real time and conveys that importance to his current students.
Tyler graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maine with a www.*** in Chemical Engineering and a Mathematics minor. He currently resides in Manhattan.
