Personal Statement
I have been a successful tutor for over ten years specializing in SAT and PSAT preparation and in all aspects of language arts including reading comprehension, grammar, and essay and term paper writing. SAT and PSAT tutees have consistently achieved 75-100 point gains. Libraries throughout CT (including New Haven, Wallingford, East Haven, Cheshire, and Bethany) have acknowledged these successes by repeatedly selecting me as presenter of library-sponsored SAT preparation seminars. Tutoring language arts has produced results which are equally striking. Students have improved three or more grade levels in all aspects, including reading comprehension, essay, and term paper writing. These successes as well as extraordinarily positive references from parents, students, teachers, and school principals are set forth in my website: www.*** . I urge the reader to check them out. I am hugely proud of them. I pride myself in bringing out the best in my tutees, in making them feel valued and respected. They reciprocate those feelings and become both challenged and motivated. The results show it. My education speaks for itself: Trinity College (BA, CUM LAUDE), University of Pennsylvania Law School (JURIS DOCTOR). I am also the author of books published by prestigious companies. Education means everything to me. Our work together becomes a successful collaboration. I look forward to meeting you and working with you!

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to read about my tutoring services. My name is Tom www.*** I am currently a high school teacher at a private school. I have been teaching for 20+ years. Most of that time was at the high school level. However, I have also taught at the middle school level. I am most comfortable teaching in the social studies subjects. In particular, I have taught AP US History, AP Government, World History, and Economics. In addition, I have taught elementary mathematics, high school algebra I, geometry, elementary science, basic computer skills, and Catholic theology. As a high school teacher, I also have my students complete research papers.
As a result of my tutoring, my students have generally seen success. I've had students go from F's to A's in a few weeks. One of the reasons for this is that I create learning experiences that fit each individuals learning modality. I can create kinestic based lesson and lessons that work with multiple learning modalities. In addition, I teach students how to study and how to set reasonable goals that are achieveable creating a growth mindset in my students. This accelerates learning and promotes a positive self-esteem.
Thank you for your consideration. I can provide evidence of my degrees, credentials, etc. upon request.

Hello, I am a college student with a huge interest in history. I want to help others enjoy learning about history in a fun and interesting way, where the student gets to interact with history and really get to retain the knowledge I teach. I went to Loudoun County High School, and currently attend the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). My main fields of historical expertise are Ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, the American Civil War, and World War II. I am also very good at retaining dates of historical events and names of people/places of historical importanec. My goal is to help people struggling with dates, people, information, etc. and helping them strategize new ways of making history a fun and interesting subject.

As far as it comes to general education: I've been there, and I've done that. Having said that, I'd like to denote the absolute importance of true learning and actual knowledge of a subject - something that is difficult to ascertain in a classroom where you are simply going through the motions of socialisation.
So if you're looking to cut through the mundane and get a deeper understanding of some material, or if you're looking for someone to help you game the system to turn busy work into light work - then I'm your guy.
Also, don't be discouraged by the thought that I won't be able to translate the material well to someone that isn't accustomed to AP classes, rather, consider it like so: I can help provide that deeper "AP analysis and understanding" without all of the "rigor", or rather, all the busy work, cramming material, www.*** it as getting a taste of an AP experience through a much friendlier, understanding, and eloquent medium that has seen what works and what doesn't work in terms of teaching students, and can therefore pick and choose the good from the bad to help you make sense of the www.*** said that, here are some of my credentials:I've taken 11 APs throughout my high school career:-AP Economics (5/4)-AP Lang and Comp (5)-AP Calc BC (3)-AP Physics 1 (3)-AP US History (5)-AP Psych (4)-AP Lit and Comp (-)-AP Comp Sci A (-)-AP Statistics (-)-AP Physics C (-)-AP French Lang (-)I have a 97(dot)91/100 weighted GPA, which translates in practicality to a 4(dot) www.*** seems this website censors dots as websites, which is a bit odd.

I have always had a great passion for helping others and being in the classroom. In deciding on a profession, I chose to follow my passion of leading, teaching, and helping others. While my primary focus for my degree is Secondary Education with a specialization in history, I have extensive experience tutoring children from preschool through high school. Likewise, I babysit and nanny children from infancy through middle school. During my time in high school, I was a member of the National Honor Society and the Italian Honor Society. I was also an ambassador for the National Society of High School Scholars. I was also a member of the Peer Mentor organization and a club called PUSH/REBEL. These organizations focused on teaching the youth of the community the dangers of getting involved with or using illegal substances and helped immerse students in positive leadership and educational activities. As a college student, I work for a tutoring company and tutor English Language Arts, History, Chemistry, and Algebra. I also work for a nanny company. It is my hope that I can connect with more students and have the opportunity to work with more children through TutorExtra.

I have always been interested and passionate about history. I had my nose stuck in my history book in fifth grade and have loved learning about how our world has gotten where it is today. My senior year of high school I had five AP history courses and passed all five exams with a max score on two, Government and European History, and fours on the rest. I had graduated high school with my first two years of my undergraduate degree. I currently am a Political Science student at UCF and will be graduating in 2019. I have tutored my classmates in history starting my junior year in American History, and have helped my peers in everything from World History all the way through my American Presidency course at UCF this semester. I have been certified by AP exams as very qualified(A rating of 4) in World History, American History, Macro Economics, Micro Economics, and extremely qualified (A five rating) in American Government and European History.

I take great pride in being a lifelong learner. Since early childhood, I have benefited from the good fortune of being around others who have inspired me to learn by wondering about the world around me. When I first meet your student, we will spend a few minutes talking about what they are studying, what is challenging them in that course, and what interests they possess. Every aspect of our culture from entertainment to the sciences has a story. Helping a student focus on those stories can provide them the boost they need in subjects like History, American Government, and several others across the typical, 6-12th grade social students curriculum. I also have spent more than 20 years working as a broadcast journalist, taking complex informational chaos, and transforming it into informative www.*** ; If you are struggling as a writer or public speaker, I can help build your confidence. No matter what subject I assist you with, I intend to help you grow as a critical thinker. Almost every subject we encounter in school and every challenge in life requires the essential art of critical thinking.
In my past tutoring experiences, I have worked with student who are worried about being sent to summer school because of a looming F, only to have them raise their grades to Bs and As. For many of them, I have witnessed them develop a keener interest and mastery of a subject that once made them feel isolated, intimidated, and terrified. Let me help light your path through a touch class.
