Tyler L. is the founder and principal instructor of Examine It Tutoring Services, which works in and around the various boroughs of New York. Examine It works with a wide range of students, all with unique educational backgrounds. We focus on developing a student’s problem solving ability rather than content memorization.
Tyler is a former environmental engineer at Air Pollution Characterization & Control. APCC is based out of Hermon, ME and focuses on air pollution compliance testing for industrial facilities. While there, he learned importance of applying abstract engineering concepts to real life and often irregular situations. He also learned the value of problem solving in real time and conveys that importance to his current students.
Tyler graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maine with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a Mathematics minor. He currently resides in Manhattan.

I started tutoring on my own approximately nine years ago and I decided to join the WyzAnt community in order to reach out to more students. I have tutored over 500 hours through Wyzant to date and I hold a 4,9/5,0 star rating. Feel free to read through feedback from my previous students to get a better idea of my tutoring qualifications.
My total SAT score was 2170 - M770 CR700 W700. My composite ACT score was 34 - M35 E34 R34 S31. My GRE score was Verbal 158 (78th percentile), Quantitative 167 (94th percentile), and Analytical Writing 5,5 (98th percentile). I specialize in SAT and ACT preparation for high school students. I am also interested in tutoring college students preparing for the GRE general test. For test preparation, I assign a decent amount of homework each week and I spend the majority of my sessions going over the questions my students answer incorrectly.
I would like all potential students to understand that the SAT and ACT are not exactly the same, and therefore require different types of preparation. If you have any questions about this, feel free to send me a message. I also put together my own review packets for the SAT and ACT, covering all the main concepts for the math sections and the grammatical concepts for the SAT writing section/ACT English section.
I am also focusing on helping high school and college students write and edit their college admission essays and scholarship essays (for undergraduate or graduate school). I offer face-to-face sessions with students to assist in all phases of the writing process - coming up with a catchy/meaningful idea, planning out the content and structure, and editing the drafts. The rate for these sessions will be my standard rate of $60 per hour.
However, I am also willing to offer assistance via email for students who wish to have their essays edited without meeting face-to-face. The rate for this type of session will vary depending on factors such as the length of the essay, how many rounds of editing are needed, and the overall amount of time that I spend editing the essay. I am willing to discuss a rate that is reasonable for both me and the student/parent.
As far as my cancellation policy goes, I require notice at least 24 hours in advance for a lesson cancellation. If I do not receive adequate notice, I will charge a $25 cancellation fee. This is primarily due to the fact that if I schedule someone for a particular day and time, I am filling that time slot and not allowing other students the chance to take that slot. Therefore, I am losing business by allowing students to cancel at the last minute. However, I offer all of my students 1 last minute cancellation free of charge; subsequent late cancellations will be subject to the $25 fee. The only major exception to this policy is a cancellation due to severe weather conditions, in which case I will not charge a cancellation fee if the lesson is cancelled at the last minute.
While all of my "professional" and "academic" qualities are certainly important, I think it's also necessary for you to understand more about me as a person. I consider myself a "nerd" and I am no longer self-conscious about it - it's who I am. I love school, but aside from that I enjoy reading and writing. To me, the smell of a bookstore is like that of a decadent chocolate cake to many others. Although throughout the school year I typically only engage in academic writing, in my down-time I write poetry and I finished writing my first young adult novel during NaNoWriMo 2016. I'm an athlete. When I was younger I did karate for about 6,5 years and got my black belt. Now, running is one of my passions. I ran my first half-marathon this past March with my Mom in RI. I don't consider myself fast, but the mental reprieve that I experience during a long run is something I could never give up. Finally, during the winter I take pleasure in crocheting. I make hats, blankets, stuffed animals, and anything else I can come up with. Yes, my interests are eclectic. Yes, I'm eccentric. I think that these parts of me make me a better tutor because I'm well-rounded and I'm always trying to come up with new ways to help my students. Also, I think it's important for my potential students and their parents to know more about me than simply my academic abilities.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I hope to hear from you soon!

I graduated from Princeton Unversity, with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biological Engineering in Spring 2018. I am currently applying to medical schools, but have always had a passion for teaching - whereas I began tutoring other students - both younger and the same age as I - as a freshman in high school. I continued during my summer breaks from college, even though I had various internships and research jobs. I am working full-time (40 hours a week) as a clinical research assistant at CHOP, but would love to continue to teach on the side! I love working with everyone from children to young adults. I am willing to work out location, hours, and what services I am willing to provide, depending on the student -- this includes via skype for interested students that are not in the Philadelphia area. Please contact me for interest and pricing and I am sure we can work something out!

I wanted to clarify a few things. I have received two Associate's degrees from Raritan Valley Community College. One in Liberal Arts and the other in Food and Beverage Management. I am currently majoring in Chemistry and Mathematics and have been accepted to Rider University with a full scholarship to continue my education in Chemistry. I have screenshots of my transcript from RVCC with most of the college courses that I have taken and the grades I have received. This website only let's you post 4 pictures so I tried to post as many as I could. I have a cumulative GPA of 3. 41 and I was awarded a scholarship from the American Chemical Society to continue my education in Chemistry. I would also like to say that I'm a single mother of one child and I'm just trying to make some extra money while going to school. Give me a chance and I would love to share my knowledge with you!

I have always had a great passion for helping others and being in the classroom. In deciding on a profession, I chose to follow my passion of leading, teaching, and helping others. While my primary focus for my degree is Secondary Education with a specialization in history, I have extensive experience tutoring children from preschool through high school. Likewise, I babysit and nanny children from infancy through middle school. During my time in high school, I was a member of the National Honor Society and the Italian Honor Society. I was also an ambassador for the National Society of High School Scholars. I was also a member of the Peer Mentor organization and a club called PUSH/REBEL. These organizations focused on teaching the youth of the community the dangers of getting involved with or using illegal substances and helped immerse students in positive leadership and educational activities. As a college student, I work for a tutoring company and tutor English Language Arts, History, Chemistry, and Algebra. I also work for a nanny company. It is my hope that I can connect with more students and have the opportunity to work with more children through TutorExtra.

My interest in working as an academic tutor began after earning an A grade on the first expository essay I wrote as a college freshman. Over ten years later, I submitted an economic research report as a continuing education student. That report reawakened a proclivity for academic prose. From that point on, I pursued all writing roles either as the mentor or as the author. My first tutoring responsibility materialized in the fall of 2009 when I accepted an assignment to tutor freshman English courses. Needless to say, the tutoring sessions became a productive and valuable educational www.*** ;It is gratifying to meet a student who does not understand the essay requirement and has other equally important and urgent subjects to master, and then leave enlightened and empowered one hour later. I have worked with students who arrive with the task, a weak draft, and a deadline; then, leave with a fresh new outlook and a well-defined course of direction. The end result is a new educational perspective and an eagerness to return to the writing center they once eluded, whether the next day or years later. This is the episode I encounter hour after hour and day after day. Every student brings a new dilemma that has to be evaluated, restructured and refocused. It is rewarding to be the source of a life changing www.*** ;My long term personal goal has been to educate individuals on academic prose, formal argument and research protocol. I believe that the motivated, broadminded and agile university population is the optimal audience for a writing enthusiast such as I and that alone has served as my guiding principle. I worked in Princeton for several years after graduating from college and, as such, I would not hesitate to further my commitment as a writing center tutor. I have been a member of four major research organizations and I feel qualified to mentor university students, given the prospect.

Mission Statement: To make learning French engaging and challenging through personally designed lessons building upon each other, to help you advance quickly and efficiently to the next level.
Are you looking to attain a particular level of mastery in French as described in the Common European Framework (CEFR) descriptors or The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) guidelines? Are you preparing to take the DELF or Advanced Placement exams? Or, are you wanting to maintain your current mastery of French? With 15 years teaching experience, we can work together to achieve your goal. My lessons integrate American and European methodologies and supplemental activities targeting listening, reading, speaking and writing skills. Additional independent practice is provided through auto-scored online activities. Progress is monitored and assessed during each lesson.
I have been private French tutor since 2005. Previously, I worked for ten years as a K-12 certified French teacher. I have taught all levels of high school French, including levels 1-AP. During that time, I created over 5000 activities, lessons and assessments to fit the needs and goals of every individual student. I was awarded a Fulbright via The Classroom Teacher Exchange Program from The United States Department of State in 2011. You can read the published article by clicking the link above.
I have owned my own tutoring business since 2005. I have lived, worked and traveled extensively in Southern France. I have prepared a US Navy Seal for an international assignment, a prospective French teacher preparing to take her NJ Certification Test and a social worker who has since transferred to the field in Africa. Also, I have worked with students at the middle and high school levels as well as college students and adults of all proficiency levels.
My lessons integrate American and European methodologies and supplemental activities targeting listening, reading, speaking and writing skills. Additional independent practice is provided through auto-scored online activities. Progress is monitored and assessed during each lesson. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my experience and qualifications with you. With 15 years teaching experience, we can work together to achieve your goals.

Omer A.
Tutor, Teacher, Instructor

Hi there, students and learners! My name is Omer. I am a medical graduate with an M .D degree (Doctor of Medicine), pursuing a residency in Internal Medicine in the United States. Let me start off by saying some things about myself. While pursuing the field of science, I have spent the past several years tutoring science subjects to my peers in after school programs throughout college and graduate school.
After entering medical school, microbiology, biochemistry and pharmacology became my strong points as I tutored my peers in post lecture sessions with my university's academic assistance program. Most of my tutoring sessions were catered towards preparing students for seminars, board exams, and tests as well as homework help.
Over my years of tutoring I have continued to develop my skills as a tutor as I worked with many different kinds of learners. I specialize in working with high school to adult level learners and in working with these students it's very important to have an efficient methodology. Over time I have also mastered the skill of making concepts and facts more easily comprehensible and guiding students to making crucial connections between concepts (this is especially true for biochemistry which is a hub for physiology, nutrition, genetics and chemistry).
As a tutor, I have seen the importance of connecting with the learners and meeting them at their level of understanding or confusion and building up from that point. I love teaching because I want to see my students excel in those same subjects that I loved learning and teaching when I was a student. My goal is for learners to be able to handle these subjects without getting the feeling that they are overwhelmed or cannot succeed and I am willing to work with them, provide them with resources, guides and learning strategies to help them reach their goals! If you are looking for any kind of learning or support with biochemistry, microbiology or pharmacology to help you enhance your knowledge and to ace your college tests and exams, I am the tutor for you! I have a solid understanding of these subjects and love seeing students go from C's to A's! I am available if any student or parents would like to contact me with any concerns or questions.

I have a love for Science. I have tutored my friends and fellow colleagues in Physics 1 and 2. I have textbooks, binders, notes, equation sheets, as well as useful practice problems for each chapter. I believe I can explain physics in the way textbooks can't. I have also taken classes affiliated with physics such as Biomechanics, which I have also conducted research with my one of my former professors in this field. I believe I can help attribute to a great grade in this class, as well as a proper understanding of the material. With a research background in Biomechanics, I have also taken a passion in Kinesiology, before taking Biomechanics. I received an A in both and had an outstanding professor for the two. I am here for anybody needing of assistance and I am happy to help!
