Hello, I have a bachelors in history and working on my masters in American History, with a concentration in military and medical history. I am a huge history buff and would love to help anyone who is having a tough time learning or grasping concepts or ideas. I know the subject can be a little dry, I have learned that sometimes all it takes is a different approach!

I have 12 years of experience as a teacher and tutor. I believe in finding new and innovative methods of teaching to help students succeed. Each student is unique and what may work for one may not work for another, that is why I take my time to ensure I prepare lessons that are appropriate for each student individually that will help him/her develop the skills needed to improve in class. I have experience working with different age groups and with students with learning disabilities. I have a passion for teaching. I believe every student has the ability to succeed. Sometimes we just need the extra help and someone to care and believe in us to show us the way. I want to continue to be that person for students, someone they can lean on, and help them in their journey to success.

My Philosophy: While teaching, I feel that it is necessary to share my gifts and talents in the classroom as well as with others who may need extra help. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring and helping kids see their maximum potential in their learning. I want to continue tutoring throughout the summer as well as into the school year. This area of education is crucial to me, and I want to make sure that the kids I work with understand the content better as to when they had started working with me. My Tutoring Experience: I have worked with children from 1st-3rd grade in all subject areas. I have worked with 4th-8th graders on study skills to prepare them or help them succeed in both middle school (6th-8th) or high school (9th-12th). I have worked with students in middle school in almost all subject areas, including but not limited to: English, writing, social studies, science, and religion. Tutoring and COVID-19: In these times of uncertainty, it has become clear to me that many parents are not comfortable with their children returning to the classroom. Therefore, I would like to offer my services regardless if a student is attending school regularly, as in face to face or if they are going to be engaging in remote learning (i. e. virtual). I understand the reality that many parents have full-time jobs and can't take on an entirely new job: becoming their child's full-time teacher. I know it is common for many young children to become easily distracted, thus it will be my job to guide individuals through their virtual schooling and keep them on track. Additionally, I am flexible about where you would want tutoring to take place. For instance, I can come to you, you can come to me, or we can use a platform such as Zoom to ensure your child is getting what they need.

I can help with up to high school level math and college level writing, and have worked with kids and adults of all ages in the past. Honors chemistry was one of my favorite classes in high school as well, and I'd be happy to tutor the subject again. I've spent time volunteering with students whose second language is English, so a language barrier shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I am a trained teacher with a diploma in education, BA in History and a Master's in Government. I have over 30 years' teaching and tutoring experience. AS as a tutor I do one on one counseling with my students to keep them organized and focused.
I have several years' public speaking experience mainly gained through Toastmasters International. I am a past president of the Minutemen Toastmasters Club with vast public speaking experience.
My tutoring style includes a few minutes of lecturing. I have found that having discussions with my students, having them complete assignments and then reviewing these assignments with them is the best method. I encourage my students to be proactive, asks questions and help them to reason through topics for themselves to ensure that they have grasped the concepts.
In addition, no teaching style works for all students so I always make sure to adapt my methods to the learning style of my student. After all, the most important thing is to make sure my students grasp the concepts and develop the ability to complete tasks independently.
