Hello! My name is Maya. I'm a high school student dedicated to my academics and pursuing a medical career. I have been a nanny and camp counselor for over four years, and with the pandemic I'm looking to apply my skills as a tutor. I am a www.*** ;IB Diploma student involved in many extracurriculars, including middle and high school tutoring experience. I have completed coursework in child development and basic education. I can work with all children aged 3-17 on a variety of subject and have some experience with special needs. I have the most experience teaching sciences and mathematics to all ages. My name is Alex Rehman! I have tutored in the past at a business in Turner, Oregon called Shine Timez Tutoring and Community Design Studio.
I am comfortable tutoring in a variety of subjects along with helping with homework. I am willing to help a student with anything they need to know or need to get done during our tutoring sessions. If I don't know a student's subject, I am willing to learn any material for the next tutoring session.
Unfortunately, my schedule isn't very flexible as I am currently working around my classes. I am willing to work with someone more than one time a week.
In terms of what I am comfortable teaching, I can teach most English topics. For math, I am the most comfortable with algebra one or lower but I have taken math up to Calculus AB and I am willing to review material before tutoring any student in the www.*** ;

I am an undergraduate 3rd year student at University of Oregon, I am also a classroom assistant at McCornack Elementary School, I work in a 4th grade classroom, my job responsibilities include correct kids' assignments, assign homework, write on the dry erase board, teach with the teacher, and tutor kids if they are struggling with their academics, especially in math. I enjoy teaching and sharing my passion for math and logic. I also love to see people be able to grow and learn in ways that they did not know that they could. There is also joy for me in learning as well because by teaching people I also get to learn and grow and get to grow a connection to the people that I am teaching. I am a college student pursuing a bachelors degree in computer science with a minor in mathematics. Math has always been a passion of mine, and I love the way numbers and calculations work to bring understanding to problems. I also have a lot of passion for teaching others and trying to help others achieve a better understanding of the material that they are studying along with helping them grow and appreciate the subject that I know and love.
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process with a new student is to get to know them and how they view the subject that they are working on. Whether they view it as a passion that just needs more help to fully develop, a burden to be overcome, or something else entirely. Once I have begun to know this information I like to begin by introducing the basic ideas around the subject or topic at hand to get a better grasp around the fundamentals. This helps me learn who the student is as a person and how they like to learn and interact with the subject so that the relationship is built and the way to approach the subject can be improved for each of the individual students
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a large background in mathematics. I am pursuing a mathematics minor and a computer science degree. I have taken up to Calculus III, linear algebra, and statistics at the college level. I have been at the top of my class throughout high school and college. math has always come easily to me, and I love to share and learn with people while improving my own skills.
