Hello! I am a recent college graduate who spent two years tutoring at the campus educational resource center. I majored in biology and have experience tutoring science and math courses of various levels. Many students are hesitant to discuss their lack of understanding with peers or professors, especially when they are unable to articulate their point of confusion. That's where I come in! I'm here to help in whatever way I can whether that means going in depth into one concept or simply building the confidence to tackle difficult problems. I don't have one specific teaching style because I want to be able to guide students toward a better understanding of the material in the way that works best for them. Together let's work toward that lightbulb moment!

Hello! I am a rising senior at Wheaton College, studying molecular biology with a speciality in genetics. Along with biology, I also have interests in literature, academic writing, and creative writing. At Wheaton College, I was a group biology tutor from August 2018-May 2019, during which time I helped biology students with difficult topics, homework, comprehension, and test study. I also occasionally tutored struggling biology students in personalized one-on-one sessions. The next year, 2019-2020, I transitioned to a job at the Wheaton College Writing Center where I helped many students with the skill of scientific and academic writing. During my time in this job, I assisted students with editing papers, brainstorming, organizing their writing, learning citation styles, and generally helping them to craft higher-quality papers. I especially enjoyed helping students to write lab reports, scientific literature reviews, and research reports of their own work, encouraging them to blend their writing and scientific skills. Though biology and academic writing are my greatest strengths, I also love literature and creative writing. I took several elective writing classes at Wheaton to pursue my writing hobbies of poetry, short stories, and fantasy/sci-fi novels, and I even won the first place Lowell-Grabel creative writing poetry contest award for a poem about science! My varied interests intersect in ways that can truly be beneficial to a student looking for extra academic support in many different areas.
COVID-19 is changing the way students learn and interact with academic material. Instead of losing momentum during this time of crisis, I would like to propel you or your student through challenging material and remind them of the joy of learning, as well as the intricacies of the world around them. I believe that this can be done while staying safe at home! I would love to tutor students age 7-adult. Please reach out to me or schedule a time to meet if I fit your academic needs and interests.
