My name is J'Nya. I am a sophomore in high school at Charlotte Teacher Early College looking to tutor mostly primary aged students in core subjects. I have been an honor roll student since kindergarten. I aim to enrich young students learning capabilities. I work strictly online due to the current state of the world and in more specific our country. My work time Monday-Thursday is very strict but my time for Friday-Sunday is a little bit more flexible for those who need longer time slots. I can not wait to enhance and stimulate your/your child's brain.

I have over 10 years experience writing and editing. I am a former English teacher, with experience working with hundreds of students on critical analysis essays. I am an expert in teaching the interpretation of literature and have worked professionally with students on the analysis of classic works such as To Kill a Mockingbird, The Outsiders, Fahrenheit 451, and many more. When I work with a student, I hold the highest standards of excellent education.

I was a tutor in my high school's writing center for multiple years, tutoring indiviual students who came in with writing assignments ranging from freshman papers to AP history courses.
I have a passion for helping students see the ability they hold in writing subjects – and also showing them that they can conquer standardized tests! When I was taking college admissions exams, I quickly learned how to master the ACT, earning a 34 on my first attempt without any practice tests prior. I'm completely willing to work with students on test anxiety, and I especially love to advise and brainstorm with others on their college essays, whether the traditional personal essay or short-answer questions.

My Philosophy: While teaching, I feel that it is necessary to share my gifts and talents in the classroom as well as with others who may need extra help. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring and helping kids see their maximum potential in their learning. I want to continue tutoring throughout the summer as well as into the school year. This area of education is crucial to me, and I want to make sure that the kids I work with understand the content better as to when they had started working with me. My Tutoring Experience: I have worked with children from 1st-3rd grade in all subject areas. I have worked with 4th-8th graders on study skills to prepare them or help them succeed in both middle school (6th-8th) or high school (9th-12th). I have worked with students in middle school in almost all subject areas, including but not limited to: English, writing, social studies, science, and religion. Tutoring and COVID-19: In these times of uncertainty, it has become clear to me that many parents are not comfortable with their children returning to the classroom. Therefore, I would like to offer my services regardless if a student is attending school regularly, as in face to face or if they are going to be engaging in remote learning (i. e. virtual). I understand the reality that many parents have full-time jobs and can't take on an entirely new job: becoming their child's full-time teacher. I know it is common for many young children to become easily distracted, thus it will be my job to guide individuals through their virtual schooling and keep them on track. Additionally, I am flexible about where you would want tutoring to take place. For instance, I can come to you, you can come to me, or we can use a platform such as Zoom to ensure your child is getting what they need.

I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from the Fall of 2015 to the Spring of 2019. I hold a bachelor's in English with a minor in political science. I worked for the Carolinian, UNCG's newspaper, for two years, serving on the Sports, Features and News staffs. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, preferably American literature, but I have a soft spot for British literature, especially early Shakespeare.

Worked as a Writing Tutor in the Writing Center for four consecutive semesters. Students would make 30 minute appointments with any subject that involved writing and I would help them with all areas of the writing process.
Worked as Writing Fellow for two consecutive semesters. I was assigned to a class to help with one or two of their papers throughout the semester. The students would submit a rough draft to me that I would then read and reply with a one page letter of feedback. The student would then sign up for an in-person meeting with me to discuss the feedback I provided and any questions the student may have had.
I have extensive experience working with students as well. My mother was a kindergarten teacher and I would often help or sit alongside her while she created lesson plans and would help in her classrooms. I would often help children learn to write properly (handwriting, creative writing, essay writing) and had fantastic results.
