I am a Physician, Former RN & PA-C with almost 30 years teaching/tutoring experience at the High School, College and Post- Graduate level in the New England area and online nationally.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE - Licensing Exam prep www.*** HESI, NCLEX, CCRN, PANCE, USMLE and Health Science courses including Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology and more.
TEACHING STRENGTHS - My knowledge and experience provide a unique skill set that I believe sets me apart from many tutors. I present a practical and disciplined orientation to the subjects that often pose challenges for many. My goal is to help students utilize strategies that reinforce retention and understanding and in turn improve test outcomes. I have worked with NCLEX, PANCE, AND MEDICAL students, some with multiple failures. To date, 100% of the students I have worked with that remain active with me have ultimately passed his/her exam. ON-LINE TECHNOLOGY - I now tutor exclusively on line and feel like I know my students as well as I have with in person sessions. Document/video/whiteboards all shared in real-time via ZOOM is as reliable as any platform I know.

Hi there! My name is Em (Emily) J., and I am a 28 year-old recent gradute of Duke University's ABSN (nursing) program. I also earned a BA in biology from Colby College all the way up in Waterville, ME! I am an oncology travel nurse, and my contracts take me all over the country! My current contract is based out of NYC where my family also www.*** ;
My tutoring experience is pretty dense; I have been tutoring since I was a sophomore in high school (chemistry and English), and I have continued to tutor in both my undergraduate (biology, chemistry, writing) and graduate (nursing pathophysiology and pharmacology) settings. My tutoring style is very engaging; I absolutely love to teach, but I also like to quiz my students to make sure that they are understanding the material that I am presenting to them. My favorite method is the teach-back method where I ask students to pretend I have no knowledge of the material and teach me what they know. This helps me establish a basis of understanding and helps me to tailor a plan of action with students on an individual basis. I am also very open to questions and feedback, and I always let the student take the reins in terms of planning how the session will proceed.
I am very responsive by email ***@*** and I am more than happy to negotiate on prices! Being a nurse, my schedule will vary week to week, but I am more than happy to try accomodate students' schedules as best as I can. I look forward to hearing from you!
Warmly,
Em J.
