I am a trained teacher with a diploma in education, BA in History and a Master's in Government. I have over 30 years' teaching and tutoring experience. AS as a tutor I do one on one counseling with my students to keep them organized and focused.
I have several years' public speaking experience mainly gained through Toastmasters International. I am a past president of the Minutemen Toastmasters Club with vast public speaking experience.
My tutoring style includes a few minutes of lecturing. I have found that having discussions with my students, having them complete assignments and then reviewing these assignments with them is the best method. I encourage my students to be proactive, asks questions and help them to reason through topics for themselves to ensure that they have grasped the concepts.
In addition, no teaching style works for all students so I always make sure to adapt my methods to the learning style of my student. After all, the most important thing is to make sure my students grasp the concepts and develop the ability to complete tasks independently.

I was a tutor in my high school's writing center for multiple years, tutoring indiviual students who came in with writing assignments ranging from freshman papers to AP history courses.
I have a passion for helping students see the ability they hold in writing subjects – and also showing them that they can conquer standardized tests! When I was taking college admissions exams, I quickly learned how to master the ACT, earning a 34 on my first attempt without any practice tests prior. I'm completely willing to work with students on test anxiety, and I especially love to advise and brainstorm with others on their college essays, whether the traditional personal essay or short-answer questions.

I wanted to clarify a few things. I have received two Associate's degrees from Raritan Valley Community College. One in Liberal Arts and the other in Food and Beverage Management. I am currently majoring in Chemistry and Mathematics and have been accepted to Rider University with a full scholarship to continue my education in Chemistry. I have screenshots of my transcript from RVCC with most of the college courses that I have taken and the grades I have received. This website only let's you post 4 pictures so I tried to post as many as I could. I have a cumulative GPA of 3. 41 and I was awarded a scholarship from the American Chemical Society to continue my education in Chemistry. I would also like to say that I'm a single mother of one child and I'm just trying to make some extra money while going to school. Give me a chance and I would love to share my knowledge with you!

Hello! I am excited at the prospect of furthering my educational experience through tutoring. My strengths include building rapport with students to gage exactly what they need, teaching writing and the writing process, analyzing literature, and helping students find their own voice in their writing. I am beginning my next adventure into education this fall as I begin the school psychology program at Capital University then. I am willing to travel within reason, but with the pandemic I am currently most comfortable with remote tutoring when possible. I do have a background check that was completed a year ago and I can make avaialable upon request. I do not have a criminal record, I just do not have immediate access to scanning/saving documents currently. I am working on obtaining a more current FBI and BCI background check, but I am still working on finding institutions who are available to fingerprint right now. I look forward to working with students again, and I hope I can be an asset to their academic careers!
