Hi, I’m Colleen!
I recently graduated cum laude from Princeton with a BA in Sociology. I'm open to traditional tutoring for grades 3-12 as well as providing oversight while your kids partake in virtual schooling. I'm patient and willing to try a variety of different approaches, as I understand that we don't all learn the same way!
Details:
-One-on-one or groups up to 3. I can work directly your child, or can instead provide oversight and guidance as they navigate distanced learning.
-I believe communication is important! I’ll provide informal written progress reports to parents every few weeks so that we’re on the same page.
-Open to virtual tutoring on the platform of your choice. If you’re in or near Capitol Hill, Seattle and think in-person tutoring would be best, let’s talk-- maybe we can come up with a safe arrangement!
-My schedule is flexible!
About me:
When I was in third grade, I delighted in creating homework packets for my younger sister and parents. Now, I am a recent Princeton grad with a major in Sociology and a minor in Spanish Language & Culture. I have experience tutoring one-on-one lower-level math (fifth and ninth grade), and always loved watching a concept finally click when we drew a visual representation of the problem together. I have also volunteered as a homework helper for an after-school program in which I worked across a variety of subjects, mostly with first and fifth graders, and have mentored a local eighth grader through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Related experience involves living with a three-year old (who honestly tutored ME in Spanish) when I studied abroad two years ago, and facilitating entry into college life for first-year Princeton students through guided conversations and community service as an orientation leader.

Hello! I played internationally in New Zealand and the Netherlands for 2. 5 years after graduating from UAlbany. I enjoy one on one coaching or small groups. My main positions are catching and corners, but am comfortable working with middle infielders as well and teaching the basics of pitching mechanics and basic pitches to young players. I am all about making the training work for each individual, so the effort the player puts in is just as important to me as the outcome. I am a positive, energetic, and encouraging coach who happens to be occasionally loud. I'm a stickler for getting the basics right and making better habits. The mental game is just as important as the physical game, and I strive to make it an accessible concept to all age levels.
At UAlbany, I was Rookie of the Year, All-Conference team for 4 years, and Player of the Year in my final season. I broke many records for batting at UAlbany, career stats for homeruns, doubles, hits, RBIs, batting average and single season stats in batting average, doubles, RBI. In the NCAA Division 1 batters, I was ranked at least in the top 100 batters in the US for all 4 years, in the top 25 my final season. 2nd in the NCAA Division 1 in doubles per game in 2017, amongst other stats.
In New Zealand, I coached at schools teaching the sport to kids of ages 6 to 16, coached a total of 6 teams (both boys and girls), played at their Premier level, and was selected for a national competition as the only international catcher in 2019.
In the Netherlands, I assisted the juniors teams of the organization and was a professional player in the Dutch Golden League (their top level sport). In 2019 season, we were the Dutch National Champions!
I look forward to hearing from you! Please let me know what kind of instruction you're looking for. My availability varies midweek, so I've just included an estimation (currently a grad student).
See you soon!
