I have been working at an elementary school for the past school year as a paraprofessional in an FRP classroom. We have children with all kinds of different abilities/disabilities. I am going to be going back to school to pursue a masters in special education. Currently, I specialize in English and would very much like to help children with reading comprehension and writing. I could also help older children prepare for middle and high school as well.

I'm a K-6 Math Specialist who has worked with numerous schools in Ohio and across the United States to develop best practices for teaching math! I LOVE teaching teachers how to teach Math!! In fact, the #1 reason students struggle with Common Core Math is because a lack of teacher training. Believe it or not, Common Core Math will improve your child's ability to reason in Math!! Time will fly because I'll make it fun!
I use strategies guaranteed to work with ADHD students! In addition, I teach students self-regulations strategies to manage their ADHD symptoms so that they can be successful in school.
Want to make learning Math and Science fun??? Having a hard time learning LONG division? Well, I can teach you SHORT division!! It's so easy and fun!!! Or, we can do the "division slide" to the song "electric slide." I can guarantee that I can make learning Math fun!
You'll be sure to notice a mindset change after a handful of sessions!

Hello! I would love to help you (or you child) foster a love for learning and further your education! Whether you're falling behind in a class, looking to get ahead, or pursuing an outside interest, I'm the person for you! I am currently a high school student with over 6 years of experience in childcare and teaching. I have worked with both neurotypical and neurodivergent students and believe I am well equipped to help students of all skill levels and abilities. I am currently a private music instructor and a daycare teacher, throughout the stay at home order for the Covid-19 pandemic, I worked for a family as a 1-on-1 tutor to help their children (6 and 14) with online/distance learning. I have a passion for music and believe it to be an important tool to be used when learning/teaching new subjects. I am always looking to learn more and approach every opportunity to educate myself further. Your tutoring session will be tailored to you, if you learn better through conversation and the socratic method, then we'll do that! If you learn better through worksheets and tests, that is exactly what we'll do. Upon graduating high school, I'm planning on pursuing a degree in Inclusive Early Childhood Eduation from Bowling Green State University with a minor in music performance! I have a weighted GPA of www.*** and recieved a 31 on my ACT. Please feel free to email me at ***@*** com with any questions/comment/concerns you may have! Hello! I look forward to working with you! Here is a little bit about myself to help you get to know me. I have lived in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania for my entire life, I graduated from Blackhawk High School and Beaver County Career/Technology Center in 2016 before shooting straight into college at the Community College of Beaver County. I studied Culinary Arts as my major, but during my free time I took online courses for English Literature and Writing. Since then, I have written 2 E-Books of my own Poetry, and I am currently working on my first Fiction. Since I was young, I felt a duty to help the generations after me excel in their academic studies, therefore started my volunteer tutoring. As a student who struggled with ADD in school, I understand the hardships of finding a tutor that can truely help. I found this Tutor website and knew that this would help me find a great way to give to the younger generation. First Lesson is always free, that way it gives you, as the student and your parents, the freedom to decide if you would like to continue lessons with me, without losing your hard earned money! And because I know for you as a parent, you get super busy, so I offer free payment reminders via Text Message! So you never have to worry about writing it down! I am currently unable to travel due to a car accident, but I do offer online tutoring via Skype! You can find my username on my profile and feel free to message me anytime and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I hope my profile has helped you get to know who I am, and I look forward to being your next English Tutor! :)

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I'm working with new students who are in High School or below. I like to usually set down with both the parents and the student to talk about what might be some major concerns that they might have. And try to start off by reviewing what they already know and work from there.
When I'm working with college students. I will usually talk to them about their majors and what they are planning on doing in the future to try and relate to them the best I can.
No matter what age group I'm working with. I'm always trying to find ways to relate what they like to science so they can link positive things to the subject at hand
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a Biology Major at Zane State College. I work with students one on one and in groups. To help break down the chapter subjects that are being asked of them to understand.
I'm a Regional and a State Judge for The Ohio Academy of Science. Where I got to learn and question the projects that the middle schoolers- high schoolers presented.
What types of students have you worked with?
Middle school
High School
Traditional College students
Non-Traditional College Students
Kids and adults with IEP's and other accommodations
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Even If something seems hard. There is always another way of learning it. Don't stop because you don't understand it the first try.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Is it the coursework or just the teaching method you don't understand when being explained something.

I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology, and my education at North Park University provided me with a foundation for me to excel as a tutor.
My experience and skills are relevant in my work at Downers Grove South. As a paraprofessional my responsibilities include mostly providing academic assistance with a student's work. I work mostly 1:1 however I do help several students simultaneously as well. The students often come to me specifically for psychology or psychology-related assignments and biology.
I worked as a youth director for two years at LaSalle Street Church. My responsibilities were to communicate and collaborate with volunteers and coworkers, to design curriculum and programming, and mentor and foster relationships with my students and the community. My open-mindedness and commitment to my students' success can be embodied in a conversation I had with a student. She came to me expressing how she recently diagnosed with depression and how it would affect her at school. I told the student that her experience was valid and true no matter what others thought. Additionally I told her that her school work will or be compromised. She may have to put more effort or time into it, but she was still just as smart. My resume goes into greater detail about my experiences with leadership, education, management. As you can see my educational, professional, and volunteer experience make me a well-rounded and excellent candidate for either position as a paraprofessional.
Thank you for opportunity, and I look forward to working with you.
