Hi! I am a positive and creative former teacher! I started teaching right out of college in 2015. I taught in Jacksonville, FL for two years and Newark, NJ for two years. During my time in Jacksonville, I taught middle school science (6th, 7th, and 8th grade!). When I moved back up north, I taught 9th grade biology and 9th grade physics as well as AP Biology. Although I have stepped out of the classroom, I still teach saturday school at a charter a charter school in the Bronx as a volunteer. At this school, I teach 5th grade math. Even though I spent my time as a formal teacher in science classrooms, I often pushed in to math classrooms as extra support, specifically in Algebra 1. Lastly, I taught in both General Ed classrooms as well as Special Ed classrooms, so I am comfortable with accomodations and modifications as outlined in IEP and 504 plans! I strongly believe in meeting the needs for every individual child so all can have the "ah-ha" moments that learning brings!

I believe I could teach most subjects up to the high school level. My ideal student would be self-motivated hungry types who are looking less for help with their textbook and more someone who will challenge by asking out of the box questions that really make you think. Learning to think is a premium when information is so easily available.

I'm a freelance university and community college instructor with over 15 years experience teaching and tutoring various subjects––from English literature and essay writing to creative writing, the humanities (history, philosophy, social sciences, and theology), and public speaking. I've taught at my alma mater New Jersey City University, as well as William Paterson University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Berkeley College, Bergen Community College and Hudson County Community College, and I've given lectures at Montclair State University, Columbia University, and Parson's School of Design. My own writing (poetry, fiction, and nonfiction) has been published in dozens of print and online publication, and I have given a TED talk on fundraising based on my book, Crowdfunding for Filmmakers. I'm looking to put my skills to good use tutoring middle to high school students (ages 13 - 18), college students, and professionals. Hello! I have been teaching chemistry for 2 years. Throughout college, I tutored other students in chemistry classes. I worked as a TA for a general chemistry class. I enjoy teaching because it is awesome to see how my students grow over time. It is so rewarding to see a student work hard and succeed because of that hard work. I believe that every student can achieve their learning goals, some just need a little extra support to get there.

I am a former journalist and editor who had the privilege of working for the best: Reuters, ABCNews and Bloomberg are some of the places where I honed my craft and had the opportunity to work with the masters. What I learned at these places was eventually, how to trust my own instincts and words and then to mold those elements into whatever writing task I was required to do. My goal as a writing tutor is to demystify the process -- because contrary to popular opinion, writing is fun -- and easy -- if approached in the right way. As an academic coach, I will help you discover and find your thesis, clarify if further research is needed and help you learn to structure your essays and papers. As a creative writing teacher, I will help you find the stories, screenplays, speeches and essays that already live inside www.*** schedule and rates are flexible! I am also available to conduct group workshop.
