My name is Malika G.! I am currently an elementary school teacher in the Houston area! My passion is teaching and working with kids. I have tremendous experience with children. My first job was a swim instructor where I gave swim lessons to all ages. I then became a Dance Instructor where I taught Bollywood dance to children ages 5-15. I was also a Montessori teacher for 2 years and was responsible for children ages 0-5 years. In addition to all of this, I am the eldest out of my cousins and siblings in my family and have pretty much taken up responsibility of helping care for them since a very young age. Darrell is an experienced living historian in 17th, 18th, 19th & 20th century military history with a wide breadth of knowledge and expertise in portraying history on stage and screen. Darrell coordinates the Historic Insights team to bring professional and hands-on consulting to filmmakers and their staffs. Darrell is a former Associate Staffer for the Cultural Attache of the Embassy of Iraq in Washington DC, an Eagle Scout, and an active community leader and historic preservationist in Orange County, CA. Aside from military history Darrell is also well versed in literature, linguistics, and anthropology. Darrell speaks Italian, Spanish, & Arabic.
Darrell is a very effective tutor, and helps students catch up with classwork, prepare for class tests, AP tests, SAT subject tests, etc. He is quite effective in assisting students in improving their writing for history tests, from DBQs to free response and short answer questions. I have tutored in the subject many, many times! I have completed college General Bio 1 and 2, and microbiology! I plan to be a physician! In fact, while I was working on my www.*** degree, I was both a lead Biology tutor as well as a remedial mathematics tutor (algebra, intro to algebra, pre-calculus). This was in addition to tutoring Government and www.*** History, as well as some European History (I had taken the www.*** examinations and received a 4 on each, giving me a total of 18 credit hours!). I really love to teach United States History and Government. I was also the "most recommended" tutor for 4 months straight!
Biology is absolutely my forte. I love everything about it, and truly enjoy teaching it while relating it to how we operate as humans, why we do the things we do, www.*** It's just enchanting!
My methods are very straightforward:
1.) I will assess and ask questions about your troubles in the subject. This will allow me to see where you're at.
2.) After my assessment, I will often ask questions about your preferred learning style. For example, if you're a visual learner, I will use the e-whiteboard and figures to help you understand better. I am here to tutor you and absolutely tailor a plan for you!
3.) Once I have all the information I need, I will formulate a lesson plan. I will create a map from "You Start Here," all the way till "Congratulations!" I will create a simple, yet effective, plan to ensure you're gaining www.*** ;
4.) While we are studying together, I will perform "spot checks," or little mini-quizzes. This isn't to put any pressure on you, but I simply want to know that you are understanding the concepts, setting you up for success!!!
*** Never, ever, ever feel bashful and afraid to ask questions! Questions are what keep academia alive! I will always ask if you are understanding, but you have to be sure that you are asking questions, too!

I am a current senior at Clements High School. I have been someone who has lot of experience with the AP curriculum. I am currently enrolled in AP Calculus BC and have taken many other rigorous course such as AP Biology 2, AP Physics 2, AP Physics 1, AP english 4, AP english 3 etc. I have been tutoring for the past 3 years in my community to many incoming high schoolers and even people of my age.
