My name is Malika G.! I am currently an elementary school teacher in the Houston area! My passion is teaching and working with kids. I have tremendous experience with children. My first job was a swim instructor where I gave swim lessons to all ages. I then became a Dance Instructor where I taught Bollywood dance to children ages 5-15. I was also a Montessori teacher for 2 years and was responsible for children ages 0-5 years. In addition to all of this, I am the eldest out of my cousins and siblings in my family and have pretty much taken up responsibility of helping care for them since a very young age. I look forward to helping your child achieve your academic goals and am excited to see how much they can learn and grow! :)

I was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada but moved to Texas with my family right after graduatinhigh school and attended Dallas Baptist University the following year. I completed my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mathematics in 3 years with a cumulative GPA of 3,942 and immediately started teaching. I started my first year teaching in a large public school in inner-city Dallas but after a few months decided that it wasn't a good fit for me. So I packed my things and headed to Fusion Academy Dallas, a unique 1-1 private school where understanding the student's physical, emotional, social and academic needs is key. I completely agreed with their one-on-one, personalized teaching approach and thoroughly enjoyed my time there because I got to build real, authentic relationships with the students and mentor them while teaching them my favorite subject matter. So how did I end up in Galveston, you might ask? Well, my husband is going to medical school at UTMB in the fall, so we moved to this beautiful island paradise and I am striking out on my own. If you are looking for a tutor who not only knows their stuff inside and out, but also cares about who students are as a person and how they are doing emotionally, mentally, socially and academically, give me a call. My tutoring programs are uniquely tailored to each student based on their strengths and weaknesses and are guaranteed to give your student the advantage they need to be successful!

I graduated from Texas A&M University with my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, but partway through my degree I decided I would go back for a doctorate in physical therapy after my undergrad degree. I'm currently enrolled at TWU in the Houston Med Center. I made A's in all my Anatomy and Biology classes, because Anatomy and biology are awesome! To be honest, I read my entire college biology text book, cover to cover. I'm unabashedly a nerd about it. I love teaching this material as well, because if we have a better understanding of how our body works, we'll make better choices when it comes to taking care of it.
I've been working as a Personal Trainer for a physical therapist for 10 months now, and I have multiple certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

I'm Nicolas! I'm currently working on Associates in Computer Networking. Alongside, I'm also learning how to code using C++. For most of my youth, I've always wanted to learn how network infrastructures are designed and what actually goes on behind the scenes. Yet, when we had to learn how perform network operations using a command-line interface instead of a graphical user interface (GUI), I knew it would be a challenge to me until I knew my professor, fellow students, and myself actively engaged with each other so every task did not seem as complicated as it ought to be. Bringing this style of learning toward my tutoring approach gives the opportunity for students to communicate their opinions and ask questions if need be.
When I helped my fellow peers in class, they always seem to come to me once their frustration gets to a level that they want to give up. When they need help, I made sure they knew the proper steps and information they needed to complete the work properly.
What makes me an outstanding computer tutor is the fact that I like test network topologies in many different sizes so I can understand all the functions a network must have to run properly and efficiently. Given that some Cisco devices can only be modified via a command-line interface, knowing these commands is always essential in those situations that a particular device has no GUI.
I'm also learning this semester on how to utilize C++ to develop command-line programs. Later on this coming spring, I hope to dig in and learn how to create functional GUI programs.
With that, I want to benefit the students I work so they can receive as much aid as possible. I'm new to tutoring, but I've always wanted to answer your questions and also learn the material that I may still struggle with myself. As a life-long learner, definitely feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, and/or concerns or to schedule a lesson!
