My name is Malika G.! I am currently an elementary school teacher in the Houston area! My passion is teaching and working with kids. I have tremendous experience with children. My first job was a swim instructor where I gave swim lessons to all ages. I then became a Dance Instructor where I taught Bollywood dance to children ages 5-15. I was also a Montessori teacher for 2 years and was responsible for children ages 0-5 years. In addition to all of this, I am the eldest out of my cousins and siblings in my family and have pretty much taken up responsibility of helping care for them since a very young age. I look forward to helping your child achieve your academic goals and am excited to see how much they can learn and grow! :)

Susie is a former High School Band Nerd and College Mathlete that was introduced to CrossFit in March 2009 by her husband David. She had tried many other fitness programs before, including aerobics, boot camp, triathlons, working out at the gym and simply running. After several weeks at CrossFit, she was convinced this was the workout for her. It took building up and seeing results in her body composition and workouts to see what this seemingly expensive program could do for her.
Susie was born in Singapore and lived all over the world as her Dad was in the oil business. She eventually called Missouri City, Texas (the River Oaks of Fort Bend Country) home and attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1996. She worked a couple years for Halliburton Company and couldn’t get enough of Texas A&M, so she went back for her M B A, graduating in 2000. She then worked for Siemens Corporation and most recently for Continental Airlines, where she was able to travel the world for her job. During her time at Continental, she was able to visit many CrossFits around the United States. Since leaving Continental, she decided to pursue her passion for CrossFit and open her own box. She also is a Lieutenant in the US Navy Supply Corps.
Susie has run 6 marathons, a dozen or so half marathons, finished a Half Ironman, participated in the MS150 and has competed in many CrossFit Events and Competitions. In 2011, she most recently participated on a team that was ranked first in the Louisiana/Mississippi/Texas South Central Region. And that team went all the way to the 2011 CrossFit Games in Los Angeles, California. What an amazing experience! In 2012, Susie participated in the Reebok CrossFit Open and placed 44th out of over 950 women in the South Central Regional. In April 2012, she competed at the South Central Regionals in San Antonio, Texas.
Susie’s favorite thing about CrossFit: Your age does not limit you in CrossFit. A 42 year old Mother of two can compete on the same level with 21 year old girls. CrossFit can make you feel 10 to 15 years younger, as it has for Susie. Susie’s enthusiasm is seen in everything she does! She knows what it’s like to be 50 pounds overweight after having two kids back to back, and how to overcome and work towards a goal. Anything is achievable in her eyes.
When Susie isn’t busy CrossFitting, she loves to spend time with her husband David, son Morgan and daughter Macyn, along with the family dogs Abba and Charlie. She loves Margaritas and 80s music, naps, dance offs, karaoke, and softball.

I'm a Full Time Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years experience at a Fortune 500 www.*** students understand the fundamentals of Mathematics is my number one priority. In College, I worked as a Student Engineer, tutored my peers, tutored groups of people, and designed (and implemented) specifically tailored tutoring sessions for student with unique cases. I not only help students overcome their obstacles, I enrich them with a solid foundation that reaches the root of their obstacles, and facilitates problem solving skills that empower students to think through problems. A lot of students have the mindset that mathematics is too hard, and can never get around that mindset. I used to be like that when I was a lot younger before high school until a tutor broke down the concept to me. Mathematics can be fun and easy, and that is what I want to help students understand.

I love math and children. My love for math started when I was eight when my family and I moved to Texas. I loved the math rallies. As years when by, my love for math kept growing and every year I was even more anxious than the year before to see what else was out there to learn. By the time I was in college there wasn't anything I loved more than having my cup of coffee and my big binder filled with math problems and just cracking my head over them. I found great pleasure in finding a solution and even a greater one in not being able to solve them. I loved the head-scratching, the headaches and of course finding the solution and understanding the problem at the end. I was not able to graduate as I took a job promotion as a general manager which took up much of my time and also got married. My love for children started when I first looked at my little brother, Leonardo. He's now my little math genius which I think sounds awesome! Since then, my views on children changed completely. I really believe kids are the future and the purest things on earth. They should be loved and educated. Each kid is different, each kid has different strenghts and weaknesses, and each kid is capable of greatness. I belive in teaching in way each kid is always motivated and confident. Seeing kids succeed and grow and become awesome people brings joy to my heart. There's nothing I enjoy doing more than spending time with children and even better teaching them a subject i feel so passionate about.

La Maternelle French Academy
Childcare, Daycare Center
|
At La Maternelle French Academy we follow the guidelines set forth by the French Ministery of Education for public preschools in France. These giudelines outline milestones each child should reach as they progress on their journy of learning how to be a student before they reach the Elementary School grade levels.
Our role is to help your child learn to be a student. This is accomplished by focusing on five distinct domains:
Acquire language and discover writing! Become a student! Move and communicate with ones body! Discover the world Percieve, Feel, Imagine, Create!
Public school education in France begins at age 3 in the Petite Section (Small Section / Pre-K 3) and continues through the Moyenne Section (Middle Section / Pre-K 4) and Grande Section (Big Section / Kindergarten). We have expanded on this system to incorporate children as young as 18 months of age via our Creche (Nursery) and Tres Petite Section (Very Small Section).
For more information contact us to schedule a tour!
The emphasis of our program is on the acquisition of language and its development, the discovery of the world of writing and that of numbers, as well as learning to live together. Arts projects are also in the spotlight and are mainly used as tools for language development.
We also focus on pragmatic and hands-on activities that children do together in a small group. This way they use critical and creative thinking processes to learn from others and especially from themselves.
From Petite Section (PreK-3) through Grande Section (Kindergarten), children dictate brief texts to their teacher so they can see the correspondence between oral communication and written communication. Socialization and language are the key points of interest to this approach. Not only will the children continue to acquire strong oral foundations in French but they will build relationships and interact positively with others. We want them to be responsible for their own learning, as they work independently in groups.
