I believe that everyone has the potential to prosper in Mathematics. The conflict arises when the student begins to lose confidence and learn to believe that Math is an impossible hill to climb. I want to help students discover all that Math has to offer. I prefer to use a Math pedagogy that heavily deals with intuitive number sense, extending that into more complex proofs. This is induced by a Socratic method which allows students to think about what they already know and apply the concept to more complex topics. I want to help students understand the big WHY in Math because that is where a solid understanding can be found and that is where the magic begins.
I am also currently a Math Instructor at the Mathnasium of Smyrna where I work students ages 7-17. I have acquired several useful tricks from this job, specifically with the use of tactile math manipulatives.

I am a rising Senior at Dunwoody High School who is highly academically driven and successful. I have a great passion to impact the world around me for the better which has invoked my love for tutoring and helping others learn especially when they are struggling.
For years I have been helping many of my friends when they are struggling and have even begun to organize study groups leading up to stressful exams. Since 6th grade, I have been making study sets on Quizlet which I share with all of the students in my class to help them study for various tests. From this, I have become popular as "Jacob-D.!!!" or "The Quizlet guy." Recently, I have joined the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society. In these clubs, I have obtained many volunteer hours tutoring elementary schoolers or even younger high schoolers in previous subjects.
At my school, I have gone through the Spanish pathway taking AP Spanish Language and Culture. Therefore, I can speak Spanish and may be able to communicate with any native-speaking parents or students if necessary.

I have been working with children for as long as I could remember. It's a passion and love of mine and truly fills my heart. I gravitate towards those with special needs as I had a bumpy road through the educational system as my parents refused to recognize I had learning differences. My favorite age right now is birth to three - the early intervention crowd.
I worked as a counselor at special needs camps, got a BA in special education and a Masters in Education in early childhood education and family support. I keep up on the research and my goal is to help your child reach their highest potential.

I am a Junior in college currently earning my undergraduate degree majoring in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry and minoring in Mathematics. I can tutor in various Chemistry and Math subjects including all Chemistry and Math classes in high school, General Chemistry 1 and 2, Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, Calculus 1 and 2, Multivariable Calculus, and Linear Algebra. I can also help students with any Chemistry related lab material as I have completed up to Organic Chemistry 2 lab and am very proficient in my lab knowledge and protocol. I also am going to Graduate school after I receive my Bachelors and hopefully PhD school to eventually conduct my own research and teach as a professional.
