Hello! My name is Maya. I'm a high school student dedicated to my academics and pursuing a medical career. I have been a nanny and camp counselor for over four years, and with the pandemic I'm looking to apply my skills as a tutor. I am a www.*** ;IB Diploma student involved in many extracurriculars, including middle and high school tutoring experience. I have completed coursework in child development and basic education. I can work with all children aged 3-17 on a variety of subject and have some experience with special needs. I have the most experience teaching sciences and mathematics to all ages. Resume and references are available upon request. Looking forward to hearing from you! Please reach out with any questions.
I have been tutoring for 2 years for free at the federal way library. I volunteer at the children's museum in Tacoma and I have an internship at an elementary school. I have experience with AP classes, honors, and pre-ap classes in high school. My schedule is very flexible.
I have been a student of history since I was a toddler listening to my father tell stories of Greek heroes. Since then I have studied almost every era and nation of human history is some detail with my specialties being European and American history. It was this interest in American history that got me into studying goverment, and get a Masters' degree in financial management. The study of history goes hanad in hand with the study of geography, and have no less than two maps of the world hanging in my room. I listen to podcasts on history daily, as well as watching videos on the subject when I can. I have never formally tutored but I often teach old and young alike in their people's past.
I've been involved in education for almost 15 years. After gaining graduate teaching certification back in Missouri, I've since taught at the high school and middle school levels in subjects ranging from history to religion to film, but my primary area of emphasis is theatre and speech. I'm currently head of the Drama program at Bethlehem Lutheran School in Kennewick, Washington, where I've guided the program from inception to the highest enrollment rate for any elective in the school. We've developed original plays for middle grade performers, some of which have been published and are regularly performed by students all over the world. A friend recommended online teaching and turoring, as a fun way to meet students from different backgrounds and it seems like a great vehicle for education. I have a dynamic and expressive way of communicating, I love meeting people from different backgrounds, and I think I'm well suited for helping remote students thrive, even from thousands of miles away. I'd love to be considered for any other subject matter that might fit my background.
