Hello! I am excited at the prospect of furthering my educational experience through tutoring. My strengths include building rapport with students to gage exactly what they need, teaching writing and the writing process, analyzing literature, and helping students find their own voice in their writing. I am beginning my next adventure into education this fall as I begin the school psychology program at Capital University then. I am willing to travel within reason, but with the pandemic I am currently most comfortable with remote tutoring when possible. I do have a background check that was completed a year ago and I can make avaialable upon request. I do not have a criminal record, I just do not have immediate access to scanning/saving documents currently. I am working on obtaining a more current FBI and BCI background check, but I am still working on finding institutions who are available to fingerprint right now. I look forward to working with students again, and I hope I can be an asset to their academic careers!

I would love to work with your child! I have 18 years of experience as a special education teacher and 13 as the mom of a child with high functioning autism. I can understand your struggles from multiple angles. I am a creative educator who uses data to drive my instruction and often think outside of the box when instructing students. My Philosophy: While teaching, I feel that it is necessary to share my gifts and talents in the classroom as well as with others who may need extra help. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring and helping kids see their maximum potential in their learning. I want to continue tutoring throughout the summer as well as into the school year. This area of education is crucial to me, and I want to make sure that the kids I work with understand the content better as to when they had started working with me. My Tutoring Experience: I have worked with children from 1st-3rd grade in all subject areas. I have worked with 4th-8th graders on study skills to prepare them or help them succeed in both middle school (6th-8th) or high school (9th-12th). I have worked with students in middle school in almost all subject areas, including but not limited to: English, writing, social studies, science, and religion. Tutoring and COVID-19: In these times of uncertainty, it has become clear to me that many parents are not comfortable with their children returning to the classroom. Therefore, I would like to offer my services regardless if a student is attending school regularly, as in face to face or if they are going to be engaging in remote learning (i. e. virtual). I understand the reality that many parents have full-time jobs and can't take on an entirely new job: becoming their child's full-time teacher. I know it is common for many young children to become easily distracted, thus it will be my job to guide individuals through their virtual schooling and keep them on track. Additionally, I am flexible about where you would want tutoring to take place. For instance, I can come to you, you can come to me, or we can use a platform such as Zoom to ensure your child is getting what they need.

Hello! I have 25+ years of teaching and coaching experience that can help you to achieve your academic or career goals.
As a graduate student, I led classes at Princeton, Drew and the University of Virginia. I also privately tutored student athletes while at UVA.
In 2001, I opened my first education company, The Engaged Mind LLC. I specialized in helping professionals to develop the mindset and the daily habits needed to create high levels of achievement and well-being. I also showed a lot of students how to become much better test-takers.
I know how to make learning fun and I really enjoy helping others. It's especially rewarding when I can help someone to overcome the very obstacles that once stood in the way of their success.
I’ve helped hundreds of clients to develop greater focus, confidence and momentum for 18+ years.
I'd like to help you as well.
Send me a note and let's connect. Let's talk about what you are struggling with right now and how I can help you to attain the success that you desire and deserve.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. Whether you decide to hire me or not, I wish you well. Never underestimate who you are, what you know or what you are capable of becoming.
