As a highly motivated and experienced Tutor with a strong background in providing professional tutoring services to students with diverse backgrounds, I have the ability to exceed your expectations. I am confident that my strong desire to help students achieve their goals will go a long way in providing high-quality services to your organization.
I have been tutoring on and off for about four years now, starting my junior year in high school with both Honors and AP Chemistry, French and basic math, such as Algebra. I have developed excellent knowledge of providing customized tutoring services to students. My ability to work with students, teachers and parents in order to find out their weakest points, and the aspiration to work towards providing strengthening services has been commended many times. Moreover, my know-how to design and conduct workshops and develop interactive materials for students would enable me to produce excellent results. Additionally, I possess a positive attitude and a passion to assist struggling learners.

I am an actor, director and teacher with an MFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. I’ve taught students of all backgrounds, from all over the world, as young as four and as old as sixty-five, both in person and on-line. I’ve taught varied subjects, including Directing the Actor, Shakespeare, Scene Study, Acting Technique, On-Camera Audition Technique and Voice. Students have been accepted into top training programs, including Tisch School of the Arts, and have booked professional theatre, film and television, including Law and Order, The Mysteries of Laura, independent films, and plays at Playwrights Horizons.
I’m highly sensitive to the individual needs of each person I work with, whether in the classroom or as a private coach. My goal is to give each student an experience of success through achievable challenges and encouragement, and to foster a sense of play, joy, intention and improvisation.

Hey there! My name is Alyssa B. and I am a local Philadelphia-based actress, singer and teaching artist with training from The University of the Arts in Musical Theater and Acting. I have experience teaching and directing students ages 5 to 20 years old. While at The University of the Arts I was the primary tutor for Musical Theater studio and Acting studio classes for undergraduate students. I have also had experience directing productions featuring students all the way from kindergarden through to high school, while having also taught at multiple theatrical summer camps. As a youth director and teaching artist, I hope to help each individual student find their own unique artistic voice, not focusing on one teaching method, but instead allowing each student to inspire a unique approach suited for their own specific needs and desires. I have experience tutoring and coaching students in anything from Shakespeare to Musical Theatre to college audition prep.
As I believe every student requires a specific approach, I am happy to offer first time students the option of a free private session to start - allowing each student to see if I am the right fit for them before continuing on in their private training! I also am happy to make theatre education accessible by offering several different methods to "meet up" for a coaching - I can teach via online skype/facetime, in person at my studio in Philadelphia or by traveling to the student (depending on their distance from my home base). I will try to work with you and see what is possible!
Should you have any questions feel free to reach out via email or phone call, although email is typically a better method. All questions are welcome and encouraged! I can't wait to meet you or your child and see what cool theater we can create together!!
Best,
Alyssa B.

Through my studies (high school, jobs, and undergrad) i've learned everything from critical public speaking and acting skills, to the mastery of math, science, and english. I speak the slightest amount of Spanish, but am learning more every day. I used to work in San Francisco's Exploratorium Museum where I concreted my understanding of other's learning styles and how to properly commnicate information to my student while doing demonstrations like dissecting cow eyes, exploring the inner ear, compost, lasers, and more! I then worked at an intensive summer camp, and gained more exposure to kids. Through the years I have been informally tutoring my many family and friends. I understand that school is hard, but I love to inspire my students with my passion, energy, knowledge, critical thinking, and communication skills. I have also been a proffessionally trained singer since the age of 6 (I am now 19), first in opera, then in musical theatre, and now in soul, pop, and rnb. Finally, I attended a specialized arts high school and graduated with a concentration in theatre-- we did everything from playwriting to shakespeare, modern dance, voice training, and monologues/scene work. I hope to speak with you soon about whatever you or someone close to you may need help with!
