My experience includes being a peer tutor for people in my classes for two years, tutoring the ages of 7-14 for one and a half years, and serving as a peer counselor assisting peers in college applications which required tutoring and counseling training. I am passionate about education and helping others succeed. My goal is to find ways to incorporate different learning styles into various activities to ensure everyone understands their material rather than just be told to learn it. With any of my past or future experience, I hope to make a big step towards my goal and know that expanding what I know can be accomplished. For example, in my University (University of California-Davis), I learn how to care for animals, network, write journalism articles and creative pieces, and most importantly, teach others various subjects. I am eager to learn, adapt, engage, and, most of all, be a great tutor.

Hi! My name is Perris www.*** Currently, I create YouTube videos weekly, while also working on my documentary about the start-up of my small business "The Nightmare Clothing". My experience in working with final cut pro has been long going since I started with I movie when I was around 8. My father sat me in front of a computer when I was 3 and ever since figuring out technology has always been my thing, which I am very proud of. As a dedicated, communication specialist, copywriter and life coach, with 20+ years experience, I am well versed in the everyday struggle you may be having expressing yourself, figuring out your next career move or asking the tough questions to figure out your true passionI majored in English Literature, with a minor in professional writing, and continue to be an avid reader and writer. During my day-to-day, I teach academic reading and writing skills at Language Systems International (LSI). Additionally, I work with students of all ages and levels of English on Conversation Management and Accent Reduction (CMAR) which includes pronunciation, vocabulary building, and listening comprehension. Besides teaching, I freelance as a writer and consultant for startups, assisting them in developing written and oral presentations to gain investments of $250k- $1mil from venture capitalists. The connection between reading, writing, and public speaking is not always obvious but becomes more clear as we begin to develop your unique writing and speaking style which I can help you with. Finally, as a life coach, I can guide students and young professionals in standard job-seeking skills, like creating a resume that highlights accomplishments, a cover letter that gets responses and prepping clients for intense interviews. Furthermore, I know how to get you motivated and energized about education, work, or that career change you've been dying to make.
In closing, I strive to boost your confidence by being supportive, making you feel comfortable, and keeping my lessons fun but packed with very useful information. I am knowledgeable on many topics, highly motivated, love a spirited debate, and sincerely enjoy helping people reach their goals. I look forward to working with you soon.

Please excuse me as I attempt to squeeze as much info as I can into a rather limited space: I am also currently a substitute teacher for LA Unified with a Multiple Subject Credential and a Special Ed Credential (MM) for grades K to 12th. I work well with students with learning challenges, as I am told I have a disarming and patient manner. I am a published poet and guide students in either early literacy to advanced writing skills, as well as World History. As a teen, I travelled throughout Europe on my own with a British aunt and uncle in Rome as my home base. I am therefore multi lingual and multi cultural. I am steeped in Asian culture as well, having had a step father who was Chinese. I have travelled to Japan many times. I am a classically trained violinist and have played in many quartets, ensembles, and orchestras. Having had training in singing, I have performed opera with the Marina Singers. I was a dance instructor for Fred Astaire Studios and went to Dapplegray Riding School in Palos Verdes Peninsula when I was young. I have taught Spanish, and Drawing & Watercolours in Bellflower Adult school. However, I am first and foremost an artist with a growing portfolio of drawings, aquarelles, pastels and paintings. I am also engaged in the writing of several supernatural tales for children and a rather satirical novel. I am on staff at the Source Seeker an actors workshop where we train people to do cold readings, commercials, and voice overs, writing scripts to train our students, having written several in French while at the Sorbonne in Paris. Born in Europe I was raised in Newport Bay.

I am a freshman at UCLA as a biochemistry major! I have been a volunteer tutor at my local middle school and a paid tutor at my local tutoring center. Through both of these tutoring experiences, I have helped many students succeed in their classes through breaking down complex concepts so that they are easily understandable yet still thoroughly grasped. Everyone has different ways of learning, so I try to get an idea of how the student learns and tailor my teaching methods to help the student learn in the best way fit for them!

I received my Bachelors of Science in Biology from SDSU and was on the pre-med track so have a lot of experience with Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biology. I was frequently the one holding review sessions for my peers the night before an exam. In the following years, I attained about 3 years of tutoring experience. There is no greater satisfaction than seeing a concept or theory click with a student. I have also learned to appreciate that each student has a unique learning style and am very capable of tailoring my teaching style to their wants and needs.

I am currently pursuing my Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC) and am beginning my PhD this fall! I have always had a passion for writing as I believe it is a form of expression. Along with all the writing I have done for myself, I have also assissted friends and family in writing college essays, essay homework assignments, and even editing essays. I currently am working on writing some research papers (some of which have preprints and are in preparation for publication). I have helped write essays in an English setting and scientific setting over a variety of age groups. I am eager to help spread my passion for writing and want to help students hone their writing skills! I believe it is important to engage with students and create an open learning environment and create an organized plan in which they feel like they are learning and gaining experience!
