I am pretty flexible so contacting me and talking it out it the easiest. I can also help with younger students and their school work. With everything going on in the world and a lot of students virtual learning it is hard to fall behind and try to teach yourself or child new material. That is something I am willing to help with. Hi!
I have experience tutoring high school students and traning creative professionals, as well as raising my own daughter to love reading, music, art, and being endlessly curious. My specialties include English language and literature, history, art history, and social sciences. I took AP English, History, Physics, Chemistry, and Calculus in high school all while playing two sports. In college I received academic, music, and art scholarships and graduated with Honor. I have tremendous empathy for learners of all ages and greatly value the guidance I received as a student. I welcome every opportunity to pay it forward and help students as a tutor.
My career as an artist and web designer has given me a love of humanities and culture. Soon after completing my bachelor's degree in graphic design, I started a "penny university" - an independent coffee shop - that hosted poetry readings, live music, art shows, and a high school philosophy club. For over a decade, I have independently studied and written about art history, ancient and European history, and languages including English, Spanish, Italian, and Latin. I have travelled several times to Europe, including London, Oxford, Rome, and Florence, and I have lived, worked, and studied in Chicago, Portland, and New York.

I recently graduated from Texas A&M with a PhD in neuroscience. There, I unofficially tutored undergraduated and graduate students in a variety of biology subjects, primarily neuroscience, anatomy, and histology. Before that, in college, I was a biology tutor specializing in introductory biology, molecular biology, microbiology, anatomy, and physiology.
In addition to science and biology, I love helping people learn to read and develop their language skills. Reading is a beautiful and integral part of interacting with the world around us, and I enjoy patiently guiding people of all ages into a greater understanding of the written word.

I am going to be going back to school to pursue a masters in special education. Currently, I specialize in English and would very much like to help children with reading comprehension and writing. Hi I'm Ani! I am currently a student at the University of Michigan, majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in Computer Science. In my time as a student, I have noticed that while it is possible to get away with memorization techniques in some situations, having a strong understanding of the material you are being tested on is the best way to set yourself up for success. I try to incorporate this mindset as much as possible in my tutoring approach, as it not only allows students to understand the material, but also gives a sense of confidence that is vital for learning. I focus on 'weak points' in a student's understanding of a material and allow them to apply their knowledge to practice material. This way, students are able to receive a lesson on the material as well as test their understanding of the content with guidance, should they need any.
