Additional information and experience - Katherine Huang

I attended Brooklyn Technical High School, graduating with a diploma in Chemical Engineering and with a cumulative GPA of www.*** I also earned the Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation with Honors in chemistry and mathematics. At Brooklyn Tech, I founded the Tutoring Service Association, training other students to become tutors and offering tutoring services myself for AP exams. I scored a 5 on my AP Calculus AB, AP Physics I, AP Chemistry and AP English, Language, and Composition exams.

I am now a sophomore at Skidmore College, majoring in philosophy and computer science. I have a cumulative GPA of www.*** , which makes me a Periclean Honors Student. I am also proud to announce that I am one of five students in my graduating class to receive the Porter Presidential Scholarship in Science and Mathematics. Although I am not a science major, I conduct research in computational biophysics with funding from the National Science Foundation.

I will not be a tutor that simply lectures or talks at your child. It is my policy to teach using a Socratic questioning method that encourages learning through dialogue and conversation. I believe that this is the best way to keep your child engaged and it is the best way for me to assess your child's understanding. I have plenty of experience working with children, as I was a volunteer at the Pediatric Emergency Department in Mount Sinai for a year. There, I learned how to be patient with children and learned to put a smile on their faces.
