My teaching perspective has always been growth mindset. I have spent my tenure focusing on bringing up my students to grade level and beyond. I have seen 500 point increase in math SAT scores in my students. I have been instrumental with my students that were lagging behind their class surpass their class. I enjoy helping my students succeed beyond their own expectations of themselves.

My name in Ann. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a BS in Biophysics and BA in Neuroscience giving me a very strong background in science and math. I plan on pursuing my graduate studies in the near future. I also graduated as a valedictorian in high school. I guess you can say I've always been an overachiever growing up in a family that puts a lot of importance on academics. I can speak 4 languages: English, Ilocano, Tagalog and French. I am also currently learning Spanish.
Teaching has always been one of my passions. Nothing beats the feeling you get when you know you have successfully shared your knowledge someone. In college, I used to volunteer to tutor underprivileged children at the local elementary school and therefore I know how challenging it could be to tutor little children but I definitely developed the patience and learned how to keep them focused. For me, helping my classmates and friends solve problems in math and physics and understand concepts in subjects such as chemistry, biology, genetics and neurophysiology was the best form of studying. I take teaching very seriously as academic excellence has always been a priority of mine.
I'd be happy to travel to wherever is comfortable and convenient for my tutee. You can schedule a lesson at any of the following days/times:Sunday-Tuesday: 9am-8pm
If you do schedule, please keep in mind that I have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
I definitely hope to have a chance to work with anyone. Thank you.

Even if you have never sung before or think you have no talent for singing, you CAN sing! EVERYONE needs to learn to sing! Yes, there are those who were born to sing and that gift should be guided constantly and cautiously, but on hine sight, EVERYONE should learn to sing no matter what. It’s like everyone should get a good night’s sleep, get regular exercise, eat healthy and sing regularly! These are all a part of having a full and healthy life. Learning to sing is not only about singing scales. Yes, you read that correctly. Give me the opportunity to teach you my secrets and my technique and you'll see what I mean. It's all about awareness and confidence.
So, what do you say? Come on over! Let's get started!

I have experience teaching in the classroom. I previously taught alternative education for one year and 11th and 12th grade English in a continuation high school. In the past I taught 7th and 8th grade English. I also taught ELA Enrichment, which was a remedial English class designed to get below grade level students up to grade level. I received my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies. I also have my Master's degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. Before teaching in my own classroom, I substitute taught and worked as a paraprofessional. I was a paraprofessional in self-contained and full inclusion classrooms.
The first thing I do for tutoring is give my students a grade level assessment. The grade level assessment helps me discover what level my student is working at. The assessment also shows me which items need to be worked on. I give lessons on a subject, such as grammar, first. After the lesson, my student and I do a few problems together. After completing the problems together, I have my student work on some problems by themselves. I check the answers in front of my student. If any of the problems are wrong, we go over the problems together. We discuss the right and wrong answers and also why the answer is wrong. I also help students with their homework, if needed.
