Growing up in the public school system, I realized its greatest fault is an apathy towards learning. Instructors merely teach towards a test, students are judged only by their ability to score high on exams. While it is a tutor's main goal to bring those scores up, I hope to create a learning environment in which students genuinely enjoy the material and become actively curious about the subjects they are exposed to. Whether it's biology, chemistry, math, or writing, I aim to not only teach my students, but to engage them and lead them to an ongoing interst in their fields of study.

Hello, my name is Crystal. I graduated with a www.*** in Biochemistry from Binghamton University, one of the top SUNY public schools in New York. I have tutored online for 5 months, helping students improve their understanding of chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and general science through providing examples, explanations, guidance, and educational resources. I stay motivated as a tutor by my passion for helping others suceed. Staying current in my field is important. I do this through reviewing educational resources, videos, and articles. One of my greatest strengths as a tutor is flexibility; I understand that all students learn differently. Throughout my career, I have worked with students of many different skill levels, including individuals with learning disabilities. I tailor my approaches to suit the needs of each individual student. Student success is my number one priority.

I am a high school senior who has prepared New York Regents preperation materials for fellow students in the past. Every student I have helped have passed their regents and almost all of them have scored greater than an 85. I am most knowledgable about Earth Science and Biology. However, I can help students in Algebra I, Physics and Chemistry. I ask that students provide me an understanding of what they have already learned, for example if a student needs help with homework I ask them to come with notes their teacher provided, so I have an understanding of a student's prior knowledge and what I can build off of to help them understand complex concepts.
