I am a passionate math teacher who loves to watch students excel. My main focus is to ensure that the students I interact with gain the skills needed to make learning easier. The greatest struggle I see with students today is they allow themselves to get discouraged when the learning becomes difficult as so many of them have had no issues up to that point. Students need constant reassurance that they can overcome any obstacle with enough work and effort.
I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a double major in Mathematics and Secondary Education. I spent so much time and effort while in school learning not only from my teachers but from every internship I was able to take. I focused as much as possible on developing the skills to transfer my knowledge to the future generations.
I have taught at a number of high schools in Oklahoma and currently find myself teaching at Prue. I am qualified to teach AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Pre-AP Algebra 2, and many more courses. I have taught almost every level of math that a high school student can take at this point, but always look for ways to continue pushing myself to be able to reach more students.

Hi, I'm Daniel.
I'm a full-time educator here on TutorExtra. I have a degree in Business Economics (from UCLA) with a minor in Accounting.
I specialize in two fields. One is in helping college students with their coursework in Accounting, Finance, and Economics. The second is in exam preparation for highschool students (SATs & APs). I've taught a whole range of subjects though so feel free to check out my credentials in my profile.
Here's a little background about myself. I've worked at a Big 4 Accounting firm, but am now pursuing my passion of teaching full-time. My approach to teaching is unique-- I specialize in helping students understand difficult concepts by providing personable examples and explanations catered specifically to each of them. There hasn't been a single concept that any of my students haven't been able to understand, and the 30+ students I've taught have all told me that my style is very effective and unique.
My teaching philosophy extends beyond just getting through the material--I teach students how to study, prepare for exams, solve exam questions, and maintain/achieve a high GPA. I expect highly of my students to work with me rigorously and, in the long term, develop great studying habits that are prevalent in all high-achieving students.
If my lesson is not satisfactory, I will ensure a money-back guarantee on the first lesson, so please reach out without hesitation.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

I enjoy teaching and sharing my passion for math and logic. I also love to see people be able to grow and learn in ways that they did not know that they could. There is also joy for me in learning as well because by teaching people I also get to learn and grow and get to grow a connection to the people that I am teaching. I am a college student pursuing a bachelors degree in computer science with a minor in mathematics. Math has always been a passion of mine, and I love the way numbers and calculations work to bring understanding to problems. I also have a lot of passion for teaching others and trying to help others achieve a better understanding of the material that they are studying along with helping them grow and appreciate the subject that I know and love.
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My process with a new student is to get to know them and how they view the subject that they are working on. Whether they view it as a passion that just needs more help to fully develop, a burden to be overcome, or something else entirely. Once I have begun to know this information I like to begin by introducing the basic ideas around the subject or topic at hand to get a better grasp around the fundamentals. This helps me learn who the student is as a person and how they like to learn and interact with the subject so that the relationship is built and the way to approach the subject can be improved for each of the individual students
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a large background in mathematics. I am pursuing a mathematics minor and a computer science degree. I have taken up to Calculus III, linear algebra, and statistics at the college level. I have been at the top of my class throughout high school and college. math has always come easily to me, and I love to share and learn with people while improving my own skills.

Accomplished bilingual (Spanish-English) higher education Full Professor with a doctorate in Electrical
Engineering and 20+ years of higher education teaching experience in a variety of subjects such as Statistics. A creative facilitator
of learning. Seeking to leverage my breadth of cross-functional expertise and multidisciplinary
knowledge to help the achievement of my students' learning goals.
My preferred teaching method is "learner-centered." My role is to facilitate learning rather than
delivering teaching, by putting principles and my own experience into practice in order to
encourage and support the students to take responsibility for their own learning. Besides being
a source of knowledge, as a learning facilitator, I guide the students towards resources and
sources of knowledge. From the beginning, I set clear goals and objectives, require active
participation from the students and provide constant assessment and feedback.

I am a recently retired software engineer. I worked in aerospace for four decades applying my skills in programming and mathematics to a variety of projects, including the development of software for flight simulators and the design of aircraft flight control systems. I love tutoring because it provides me the opportunity to continue working in the areas I love and to keep my mind sharp and active. I enjoy mentoring others and receive great satisfaction from knowing I've helped my students increase their knowledge in these areas.

As a part of my undergraduate studies, I took many courses in mathematics and an assortment of applied fields (economics, physics, computer science, philosophy). My mathematics education included calculus (up to multivariate and differential equations), statistics, real & complex analysis and linear algebra. My interests mostly lie in the realm of mathematical logic because it dives deeper into proofs and the potential paradoxes that follow. My goal is to be a professor at a university that allows me to research pure mathematics. If there's a math topic that isn't represented in my profile, there's an equal chance that I know it enough to teach you, or that I would be willing to learn for you!
I also spent my years throughout high school and college studying, practicing, and performing music through my instrument, the flute. I've performed solo and with ensembles at many venues such as Merkin Concert Hall, Roulette Intermedium, National Sawdust, and the DiMenna Center for Classical Music. As a result of a concerto competition win, I played the Khachaturian Flute Concerto with the Stony Brook University Orchestra (full performance on YouTube). I also started a unofficial flute choir at SBU, arranging pieces for flutes of varying sizes. I have an equal appreciation for solo repertoire, chamber music, and orchestral excerpts; and if you're just starting out, I'd love to help out on your journey!
