The Galveston Math Tutor
Tutor, Teacher, Instructor
|
I was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada but moved to Texas with my family right after graduatinhigh school and attended Dallas Baptist University the following year. I completed my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mathematics in 3 years with a cumulative GPA of 3,942 and immediately started teaching. I started my first year teaching in a large public school in inner-city Dallas but after a few months decided that it wasn't a good fit for me. So I packed my things and headed to Fusion Academy Dallas, a unique 1-1 private school where understanding the student's physical, emotional, social and academic needs is key. I completely agreed with their one-on-one, personalized teaching approach and thoroughly enjoyed my time there because I got to build real, authentic relationships with the students and mentor them while teaching them my favorite subject matter. So how did I end up in Galveston, you might ask? Well, my husband is going to medical school at UTMB in the fall, so we moved to this beautiful island paradise and I am striking out on my own. If you are looking for a tutor who not only knows their stuff inside and out, but also cares about who students are as a person and how they are doing emotionally, mentally, socially and academically, give me a call. My tutoring programs are uniquely tailored to each student based on their strengths and weaknesses and are guaranteed to give your student the advantage they need to be successful!

I'm a retired mathematics professor with a Ph. D. in mathematics and 35 years of full-time college teaching experience. I have taught courses in basic statistics, precalculus, calculus, ODEs, linear algebra, probability, non-Euclidean geometry, real analysis, complex analysis, set theory, and logic. I am prepared to tutor in any of these subjests.
In tutoring, I take a Socratic approach. I try not to tell a student how to solve a problem, but instead I ask leading questions to help the student figure it out for themselves.
I live in Hammond IN, and will meet students in my home, their homes, or coffee shops throughout Northwes Indiana.

I also have experience tutoring Algebra-based Physics at Rockland Community College, and Calculus-based E&M at MIT, where I TA'd for MIT's freshman E&M course, 8,02.

Jahanzaib Faisal
Tutor, Teacher, Instructor
|
Hi, My name is Jahanzaib F., or you can call me Jazi,
Right now I am enrolled in one of the top esteemed universities of my country (NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, Pakistan), currently conducting my bachelor's in Polymer and Petrochemicals (Chemical Enginering). In part time I offer tuitions to students from all over the world, as a kid, I have always liked helping others, it gave me a sort of satisfaction, and I still remember to this day when I first started teaching to my school friends just to prepare for some test, soon I discovered that I only didn't have talent, but infact passion for teaching, so the things I like doing most beside learning new things myself is teaching and helping others.
The best thing about my teaching methods is that they are not specialized or hard and fast, infact I prefer to base my teachings in such a way that provides the best learning environment for my students so that they can get the most out of it with sparing as much as little time in it, I intend to reflect accordingly to my studnets needs, that is most of the sessions I take are goal-based rather than fixed around the clock, so it has become my habit to go an extra mile for my students if it is required, and also teach them more they ask for, as some extra knowledge never hurts
