I am a sophomore at Creighton University studying Finance and International Business and minoring in Spanish. The greatest struggle I see with students today is they allow themselves to get discouraged when the learning becomes difficult as so many of them have had no issues up to that point. Born in Wisconsin, H. studied composition with Ned Rorem at the Curtis Institute and David Diamond at the Juilliard School, then worked extensively as a copyist and editor for numerous concert composers and Broadway shows, including Elliot Carter, Virgil Thomson, Gian Carlo Menotti, and Disney. He taught for a decade at Bard College, and served on the faculties of the Curtis Institute, the Chicago College Conservatory, New York University, and the Princeton Atelier, among others, before turning his attention solely to fulfilling commissions. His music is recorded on Naxos, Albany, CRI, and Bridge.

My teaching method is tailored to every student’s learning style. I can give lectures, help with homework, or work problems alongside students.
To learn something it is helpful to be exposed to the material in many different ways and formats; This helps to strengthen neural pathways so the information is easy to recall and utilize. Moreover, I try to answer questions and teach using many different mediums --visual, auditory, and analogical. As a tutor, I am always learning during every session about how to better serve students’ needs to ensure utmost satisfaction.
