My name is Malika G.! I am currently an elementary school teacher in the Houston area! My passion is teaching and working with kids. I have tremendous experience with children. My first job was a swim instructor where I gave swim lessons to all ages. I then became a Dance Instructor where I taught Bollywood dance to children ages 5-15. I was also a Montessori teacher for 2 years and was responsible for children ages 0-5 years. In addition to all of this, I am the eldest out of my cousins and siblings in my family and have pretty much taken up responsibility of helping care for them since a very young age. I look forward to helping your child achieve your academic goals and am excited to see how much they can learn and grow! :)

I'm Will! I'm taking almost all (but one) AP classes at Westwood HS (known for its academics) and have kept straight A's for all of High School! I have a decent amount of experience with kids in the Elementary-Middle School range. I was and hope to be again a youth leader at Hill Country Bible Church and was a leader for Great Adventure. I'm an active scout with Troop 162 and am a Den Cheif. This means I attend Cub Scout events and am a leader to the kids there. I'm really happy to help anyone! Especially with math, I love to see kids' faces click and beam when they finally understand what they've been trying to for so long.

HERE ARE SOME OF MY PAST EXPERIENCES- I HAD A STUDENT WHO JUST GRADUATED FROM HARVARD UNIVERSITY. WHEN SHE WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, I HAD TUTORED HER FOR FOUR YEARS, JUST ONCE A WEEK. SHE FINISHED GENKI 1 AND 2 (AP JAPANESE LEVEL) WITH NO HIGH SCHOOL JAPANESE CLASSES AND SHE WAS PLACED IN A THIRD YEAR JAPANESE CLASS IN HARVARD. SHE WAS THE ONLY FRESHMAN THERE. I HAD ANOTHER STUDENT, WHO BARELY PASSED THE FIRST YEAR HIGH SCHOOL JAPANESE. I STARTED TUTORING HIM WHEN HE STARTED SECOND YEAR, TWICE A WEEK. HE ENDED HIS SECOND YEAR WITH A B+. I HAD ANOTHER STUDENT WHO HAD STUDIED JAPANESE FOR TWO YEARS WITH ME WHEN HE WAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL. WHEN HE STARTED HIGH SCHOOL, HE SKIPPED JAPANESE I (FIRST YEAR) AND STARTED WITH JAPANESE II. AFTER A WHILE, HE GOT BUSY WITH OTHER ACTIVITIES AND HE HAD STRONG FOUNDATION (ACCORDING TO HIS FATHER), SO HE DECIDED TO TAKE A BREAK FROM JAPANESE TUTORING. I WAS HAPPY FOR HIM. A YEAR LATER I GOT AN EMAIL FROM HIS FATHER, SAYING “GOOD MORNING, CHIYO! IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME, HOPING YOU ARE WELL AND HAPPY! I AM NOT SURE IF YOU ARE STILL IN SAN DIEGO OR HOME IN JAPAN, BUT XXXX IS HALF-WAY THROUGH HIS AP JAPANESE YEAR, AND WILL NEED SOME HELP FOR THE AP TEST. IF YOU ARE STILL AVAILABLE FOR PRIVATE TUTORING, WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU AGAIN. AND IF YOU ARE NOT AVAILABLE, CAN YOU RECOMMEND SOMEONE JUST LIKE YOU?” I WORK WITH ADULTS, TOO. I USED TO HAVE A CLASS AT SONY (UNFORTUNATELY, MY VAIO PEOPLE ARE GONE). I TAUGHT TWO CLASSES A WEEK AND AFTER A YEAR AND A HALF, FIVE STUDENTS TOOK THE “JAPANESE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST” AND ALL OF THEM PASSED THE BEGINNER LEVEL. IF YOU ARE WORKING FOR A JAPANESE COMPANY, BEING ABLE TO COMPREHEND AND COMMUNICATE IN JAPANESE IS HUGE PLUS!!

My face lit up with pure joy and I could not stop smiling. I just witnessed one of my students screech with satisfaction as she solved a laborious organic chemistry problem. She says, “I guess organic chemistry isn’t too bad after all."
I love to teach, so I can help students realize their capabilities just as this student and experience more of these heartening moments. In this moment, I knew I had a joy and passion for teaching. I long to see students excel, to exceed expectations of others and of themselves. I desire to help students reach their potential. I share a love for education, and I share a love for knowledge. I believe all students have an aptitude greater than what any one person labels them, because a student may not know their full potential until they believe in themselves, in their abilities. I would love to help students to embody the notion that their hard work defines them, an individual, not a presumption.

My name is Hector T. and I am a previous 2nd grade educator with a love of learning! I truly believe that an excellent education is the foundation of a happy life and I am fully capable of helping your student realize that. A problem occurs in education when we teach a lesson in isolation. I will spend time making connections with your student so they emerge seeing the greater picture that is made up of puzzle pieces they have placed! I aim to know my student’s goals and highlight that every academic accomplishment is one step closer. I currently hold a certification in pk-8th education, and I'm confident I could help a student improve academically!
What you will get from me:
1) A thoughtful lesson: I will require prior notice on desired lesson and topic so I can come prepared to execute
2) Progress updates: I will personally email you progress updates on how your student does on exit assessment (every lesson will have one.)
3) Extension opportunities: As seen fit, I will provide extension work for your student to complete to practice skills!
Ultimately, I want you to be assured that I will care for your student just as I cared for students in my own classroom. You can be assured that I will take pride in contributing to their overall growth and success!
I hope to hear from you soon!
Hector T.

I am a middle school science teacher that loves helping students find the fun in science, math, reading and writing. I have been trained to work with students that have learning disabilities, are english language learners, and are gifted and talented. I love watching students finally understand something and getting excited. Before I was a teacher I worked with elementary aged children at a YMCA. I was camp director and after school director. I created activities for them to do and helped a lot with homework. I would love the opportunity to be able to help your child find a joy for learning.
