What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I'm working with new students who are in High School or below. I like to usually set down with both the parents and the student to talk about what might be some major concerns that they might have. And try to start off by reviewing what they already know and work from there.
When I'm working with college students. I will usually talk to them about their majors and what they are planning on doing in the future to try and relate to them the best I can.
No matter what age group I'm working with. I'm always trying to find ways to relate what they like to science so they can link positive things to the subject at hand
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a Biology Major at Zane State College. I work with students one on one and in groups. To help break down the chapter subjects that are being asked of them to understand.
I'm a Regional and a State Judge for The Ohio Academy of Science. Where I got to learn and question the projects that the middle schoolers- high schoolers presented.
What types of students have you worked with?
Middle school
High School
Traditional College students
Non-Traditional College Students
Kids and adults with IEP's and other accommodations
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Even If something seems hard. There is always another way of learning it. Don't stop because you don't understand it the first try.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Is it the coursework or just the teaching method you don't understand when being explained something.

Hello! My name is Samiah, and I am a former medical student looking to change career paths and follow my passion for teaching. I would love to work with you! School was a strong-suit of mine growing up, and I was recruited while in high school to work as a peer tutor, mostly in math (all levels up to Calculus BC). I loved it so much that in college, I worked as a Health and Science instructor in inner city schools through a non-profit organization. I also created my own tutoring program with three other star students. Often times, I also helped with writing, editing essays, and reviewing resumes. My passion for teaching and tutoring didn't stop there though! In medical school, I also worked as a Summer Camp Counselor for a STEM focused camp, helping to develop the science curriculum and implementing it as a counselor. I also worked as a Meditation/Mindfulness course instructor for school age students. These experiences all gave me the qualifications to work as a tutor and a teacher for your needs! In general I think my added experience as a counselor and a medical professional has developed my patience and empathy, which I think are important qualities in an effective educator.

I recently finished my master’s degree in Ireland and am looking for a part-time or full-time job opportunity in a fun new exciting area that includes education. I have assisted and lead groups in many different areas, including fisheries and water quality outreach at both large festivals and small events, supervision of summer interns, brainstorming and development of new and existing seafood safety projects, and water quality laboratory maintenance and preparation for fieldwork. I have been a member of clubs, of which I lead several, and held positions in my career that required public speaking and hands-on activities with a large diversity of people. I have extensive experience with computers which includes administrative tasks as well as newsletters, social media, and other outreach tools.
I believe I would be an excellent candidate for online teaching as I obtained most of my undergraduate degree from an online school as well. Teaching diverse groups of people is also very important to me. During my undergrad at my local junior college, I helped implement a new program that brought women (usually mothers) on welfare back into the college system where they were mentored and guided into self-fulfilling careers. Therefore, I understand the importance and unique nature this type of education brings. While I am a huge advocate of online education I believe that my recent experience in a graduate program that involved classroom-based teaching, field laboratory excursions and unique training opportunities could help breathe new life into the online teaching sector. I am a huge believer in constant education and self-development in careers and thus this has led me to become extremely interested in the idea of the online teaching experience.

I've been studying Spanish since my freshman year of high school. I also studied abroad during my Spring Semester of 2018. While in Spain, I participated in an unpaid internship at the University of Valencia where I translated English documents to Spanish and vice versa. I'll be receiving my Bachelors degree in Spanish this coming May; however, I thought I'd give online tutoring a try while I continue job searching. I also have experience with tutoring foreign exchange high school students.

Accomplished bilingual (Spanish-English) higher education Full Professor with a doctorate in Electrical
Engineering and 20+ years of higher education teaching experience in a variety of subjects such as Statistics. A creative facilitator
of learning. Seeking to leverage my breadth of cross-functional expertise and multidisciplinary
knowledge to help the achievement of my students' learning goals.
My preferred teaching method is "learner-centered." My role is to facilitate learning rather than
delivering teaching, by putting principles and my own experience into practice in order to
encourage and support the students to take responsibility for their own learning. Besides being
a source of knowledge, as a learning facilitator, I guide the students towards resources and
sources of knowledge. From the beginning, I set clear goals and objectives, require active
participation from the students and provide constant assessment and feedback.

Hello, I am a college student with a huge interest in history. I want to help others enjoy learning about history in a fun and interesting way, where the student gets to interact with history and really get to retain the knowledge I teach. I went to Loudoun County High School, and currently attend the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). My main fields of historical expertise are Ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, the American Civil War, and World War II. I am also very good at retaining dates of historical events and names of people/places of historical importanec. My goal is to help people struggling with dates, people, information, etc. and helping them strategize new ways of making history a fun and interesting subject.

I can work with all types of students as long as they are willing to learn. I make the material easy to comprehend and go into depth so that you know why the problem is worked out the way it is. The end result should be the student knowing how to do something, find the correct answer and be able to know how to apply the information in real life.

Hello,
I have been tutoring Math for over 14 years for various grades: Middle School, High School, and College. Math is a wonderful subject once you understand it. My primary objective is to help you love Math and enjoy it. Once that is established, nothing will stop you from excelling at Math.
Diplomas: I hold a PhD in Wireless Communications, MS in Telecommunications, and BS in Electrical Engineering.
Tutoring Methods: My tutoring methods involve direct engagement with the student to make sure he/she is really understanding what I am explaining. I always try to provide real life scenarios where certain formulas are applied. This approach helps the student remember the equation or even reconstruct it again based on the scenarios discussed. Everything in Math is applied in our daily life but we are unaware of it because we do not pay attention to it but that does not mean it does not exist. After most sessions, I assign few problems for the student to work on them at home before our next session (these assignments could be chosen from the textbook or I could formulate them myself). This method affirms student understanding of the subjects covered.
Guarantees: I can guarantee you that if you follow the steps I pass onto you and do your homework assigned to you, I have no doubt that you will not only pass the class but also end up with an A. That's based on experience and not talk.

Hi there! I am a former scientist who happens to enjoy English and test preparation in addition to math and science. I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from Boston University, a PhD in biological chemistry from The Scripps Research Institute, and three years of postdoctoral experience at Harvard University in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. The subjects in which I specialize include Test Preparation; Mathematics; General Chemistry; Organic Chemistry; English Writing, Grammar, and Literature; and Introductory Biology . As a tutor, I am patient and adept at identifying areas in which students may need extra help. My style is informal and approachable, and I relate extremely well to students ranging from elementary-school-age to working adults.
About me: I have worked as a part-time Professor of Chemistry at local colleges and universities; I tutor extensively in subjects ranging from science to English to test preparation; and I worked for many years as a scientist--performing experiments and communicating results through written and oral presentations to specialists and non specialists alike. Through these experiences, I have become expert at relating to students of all ages and educational backgrounds.
